I played the demo for Mirror's Edge and thought it was a lot of fun. However, looking at reviews I noticed a lot of complaints over the fact that you are forced to fight people in some instances. One thing I noticed on the demo was that the shooting mechanics and the fighting system weren't as polished as the free-running. Because I was looking for something different in my library of FPS/TPS/RPGs, I was hoping the Mirror's Edge might be something different, but a poor FPS would not be enjoyable.

So, what are your opinions? Is it worth buying for $10 and are there any sections that force you to go into "shooty-action" mode, as opposed to the better free-running mode?

For $10? Sure, buy it. I had a lot of trouble getting into the game at first, but it has grown on me. I finished it twice and enjoyed both playthroughs.

You're seldom forced to do any fighting, but it's often the easiest solution. The freerunning is very good once you get into it and don't mind falling to your death a hundred times.

One of my regrets is that I only rented the game.

Some of that regret is achievement-related, but I really do want to play it again.

I'd say it's certainly worth it. I thought it was a waste at full price, but at $10,- you can't really go wrong.

The shooting isnt as good as other fps, but its also only a tiny part of the game. Most of the time your gonna be free running so its not a big deal. For $10, do it!

I bought it for that price (around £6.50) and I'd say it's definitely worth it. Certainly not worth the full retail price upon release but it's a damn bargain being that cheap.

It's an enjoyable, short game that had some very good ideas.

It is also not as difficult as people make it sound. I managed to beat it on the hardest difficulty without taking that much longer than my first play-through when I didn't know what I was doing.

It was fun, certainly, but I'm stuck on this damn boat. Seemingly no way off.

So be prepared for that.

Yeah, you should. It's quite a fun game, even if it's short. I've never found a time where you are forced to fight people. You can always just run away, and you won't be penalised.

I think that game is totally awesome, I bought it on release-day and it was a tad short for the price I payed but it's certainly a unique experience.

So go get it! :)

It's really good, stodgy combat aside. And if it bothers you that much, just play the time trails, I got more fun out of trying to beat my own times than actually playing the story mode.

Mirror's Edge is a really interesting experiment that fell a little short.

It's paced pretty badly for a game about running. When you actually get a flow the game is excellent, but the fast paced running action is sadly interrupted by a lot of dieing or more tedious platforming sections. Get ready for a good chunk of trial and error.

But still, $10 is worth it without a doubt, if only to see the more inventive side of gaming. Plus, I know a lot of people who are more forgiving to it than I am, maybe you'll be too.

For ten bucks? Sure, go for it. It's not that bad of a game and the free running controls are really quite a sight and make the game a lot of fun. As the critics said before, the fighting moments are pretty weak, but after a few minutes you'll learn a decent combo that pretty much kills all of the baddies around you for the earlier levels.

Yes, it is absolutely worth that price.

And, I have to say, although it takes some work to get used to the fighting system, once you've put that work in, it's quite fun and works well with the running.

But the running itself is still better, because you get the same effect with that and, on top, it's fun from the start too.

Definitely worth $10. It's a solid title that I really enjoyed (the free running mechanics are great, even if they are hindered at times by a combat system that feels like something of an afterthought) - you can't go wrong at that price.

It's my favorite game of ALL TIME.

If you're getting it on the PC, that's an instant "yes".

If you're prepped to run instead of fight (there's only two required fights, both near the end), then that's an instant "yes".

If neither of those, it's still worth it. It's ten bucks!

i payed like 30 euro and i thought that money was well spent, ill but most $10 games if they look decent sometimes you find the best stuff that way.
