Absolutely. It's one of those games that has its highs and lows, where the highs are really, really enjoyable. However, the lows will make you tear your hair out in frustration.

It's not that the game itself is that difficult, because it really isn't... unless you try a gun-less playthrough.

Absolutely. I liked the combat mechanics and I'm very hard to please.

Some parts are unimaginably frustrating though.

Look at YouTube for some step-by-step video walkthroughs when you get stuck. Because I guarantee you will get stuck.

I LOVE Mirrors Edge. $10 is totally worth it.
I didn't find combat really to be as bad as everyone makes it out to be (played on PC for reference).

It was fun, certainly, but I'm stuck on this damn boat. Seemingly no way off.

So be prepared for that.
What part? It seemed straightforward enough...

I've never found a time where you are forced to fight people. You can always just run away, and you won't be penalised.
Well, there IS the part where on the boat with the locked door next to the machine-gunner, and the server room at the end...

But other than those two moments, you're entirely right. If you're trying to fight everyone, you're doing it all wrong.

You too? Am I the only one who had no problem at all with the game's level layout?

And which parts did you find frustrating?

YES. I loved the game. And in most places, you can run right past the guards. And if you're pretty decent at fps's, then the combat shouldn't be difficult at all. You'll probably breeze right through it and enjoy the 90 or 95% awesome free-running parts. The best part about the game is that it plays well the first time through, and if you go back to play it a second time and know where everything is, it has an extremely nice flow. The environments are nice, the story is kinda mediocre, and the guns are kind of a required part by the story, but you can mostly ignore them and get on with running.

In short: I would get it. But I would definitely pick up the console version unless you have a REALLY nice pc.

The game definitely isn't worth the $60-100 it was originally priced at. But $10? Yeah, I'd say go for it.

Not true. A PC made in the last three years handles it just fine, and it plays much better on PC than on console.

One other thing... are there any sections that require you to complete an area in a certain amount of time where if you fail, the game restarts from a checkpoint? I despise arbitrary time limits.

Really? It ran amazingly well on my 360 and I'd heard it didn't run so hot on a pc. Plus, the graphics in that game are really nice imho, and it definitely looked better on my tv than it would have on my computer. Plus I just like a physical controller, but that's just my preference.

You don't have to fight in the server room, you can just keep running around and let them destroy the servers for you, and once they have the door opens and you escape without a fight.

where is the hell yes option? mirrors edge is one of my favorite games of all time. (probably #8) i got it for the pc. it runs great. there are some downsides: gun combat sucks; multiplayer lacks (i would love actual multiplayer races. the time challenges are fun for a while though). however, the game is without a doubt the most original game i have ever played, and the parkour action is amazing.

The good points barely outweigh the bad ones, but overall this game is pretty fun and a blast to piss around in!

Sort of not really. It's not arbitrary, there's a couple sequences in which you chase someone, and if they get away, you start about a minute back. The sequences are only a couple minutes each, and they aren't hard.

If you have some method of making that damned machine gunner go away, I would love to hear it.

for 10 bucks? It's a great game, but since it costed 60 when it just came out, you ended up paying about 10 bucks per gameplay hour. But it is a very nice game, it looks good, the running is fun, only combat sucks, but I think it's sort of supposed to.

In short: GET IT, NOW!

The game is short, and unpolished. Ten dollars is a steal though. The sheer innovations the game presents make it worth every cent.

10 dollars definitely. The reviews when it was released were based on the 60 dollar launch price.

almost any game is worth 10 dollars.
