Mirror's edge was like a playboy model - you'd go out with her for the looks but not the personality. Its the difficulty curve that killed me.

Somting about mirrors edge made me hate it. Still I only rented it, but I have heard people say it has an epic story which for me is a load of bull, the cutscenes consist of poor voice actors and weak presentation.

Not a $60 game, but it was very original and fun. It was just too short of a story mode and i'm not a fan of time trials. But the speed runs were cool. I don't get all the complaints about it having bad controls, crappy combat, being first person, etc. The only real gameplay problem I noticed was periodic innaccurate grabing detection. The gameplay itself was very smooth, and the combat is not so hard if you actually lure individual enemies, are fast, and use proper cover.

It was rather hit and miss with me. I loved the style of it, but a great portion of the game play didn't feel as if it was properly executed or forced.

Hmm.

I bought it for the PC a few weeks back, so my experience will vary a bit from the people who rented it for a console (also, you have to buy demos for the X360? Whoah).
As a 360 owner, allow me to be the first to say that I have never seen a demo that I've had to pay for of Xbox live, though I would not deny the possibility of M'soft being that greedy. I downloaded the demo for Mirror's Edge off Live (for free) before I rented it and beat the game in my rental period.

I tought it was ok. But then I just ignored the plot alltogether and just focused on the gameplay, which I found worked more or less painless when I got used to it. Also the constant dying was a bit of a *****, but it also made it feel quite awesome when you finally nail it.

Mirror's Edge, much like Heavenly Sword, is the very definition of a rental. Get it from Gamefly, spend a day or two on it, send it back. I'd never pay $10 for a rental from Blockbuster for this game, much less the $60 for the "privilege" of ownership, but I don't regret the few hours I spent with it given the lack of cost.

What else is there to say?

I thought that ME was an absolute blast despite its numerous and obvious flaws. I would liked to have seen a little bit more free running from a "free running" game and a more decent plot would certainly not gone a miss. I appreciate the combat was also very weak but i spent far more time on the time trials than on the actual game so it didn't bother me too much.

I have a lot of expectation for the sequel and hope that i won't be dissapointed. Fingers crossed...

i think you need to include an option for "i liked it for what it tried to be".
i thought the concept was absolutly brilliant, but i got halfway through it, and suddenly thought "wtf am i doing? i hate playing this game! and what's with all these gun battles anyway?"

i also would have liked a more free-roaming experience, and maybe some online races; "who can get their package to the end point fastest, whilst avoiding soldiers, and not falling"

I just got it, so it was only like, $20, so I wouldn't have really cared if it sucked. Well I guess would.

Well...my least favorite part would have to be when Ropeburn rushes you and you have one of those, "Press button x to not die" moments. I must of died thirty times in that sequence and I was downright convinced it was broken.
You do know that if you press a key (the "R" key (Default) on PC) it pretty much slows down time for a bit, making all "quick"-time events incredibly easy?

Granted, I still hated that part too. Pretty stupid, shouldn't even be in the game.
Oh yes. I'm very well aware.

Many a time I'd be pounding on the button just for it to kick in as I'm being thrown off the building. But I played it on a console and they may have rectified that for the PC version.

I just like to point out to the people going '"if I paid "', Why not buy online and get it cheep? or even( this is radical) wait for a while after its launch when the price drops. I have ordered my copy for a mere £24
