So they're really stretching their pockets over at Infinity Ward. Read it and be ashamed.

Does anyone else think this is absolute piss? Wouldn't it make more sense to just adjust the color scheme and sharpness of the actual game? Of course not, that would be too easy right. I'm eerily reminded of the marketing campaign for "HD View Sunglasses" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKYKyIObXyM

Someone please reason with me here? I'm struggling to get a grasp of what could possibly make them think this is a good idea. Thoughts?

tbh, if you dont want to have eyestrain whilst playing games, then turn a friggin light on or something like that. DONT pay 100 moneys for something that will make you look stupid and add much less than a decent headset that costs 100 moneys.

Soooo....they're merchandising on a popular brand name. And? Until people stop making stupid impulse purchases, this kind of thing will always exist.

Don't blame COD for this one, Gunner Optics have been around a while.

And yes, it seems to be a pretty retarded and pointless product.

Well the last one came with night vision goggles. It only makes sense to give you something so you can see during the day.

But it will make you better at the game, they clearly said so and it must be true :p

Selling shite on a good name... standard marketing practice, you should check out the "augmented clothing" thing on Deus Ex.

Not worth the price. Besides, they're ugly as hell. I pity the fool who makes such a purchase.
EDIT: the site bugged out and didn't display the previous post for a while, hence this...

Companies releasing gaming merchandise is nothing new. Also on the Escapist is an article about Deus Ex clothing (?!). The only real difference between the two is that the CoD glasses will attract more hate because of the large number of CoD anti-fanboys you see floating about. Reach was released with a Legendary pack for twice the price of the CoD glasses and all it contained was a Spartan action figure. Fallout 3 was released with Vaultboy bobbleheads for the Fallout fans. Every gaming franchise has it's own gaming merchandise, so it's no big deal. Yeah sure, these'll only be bought by hardcore fans with more money than sense, but that assessment is true of every 'Limited Edition', 'Collector's Edition', or 'Overdrive Pack' released for every other franchise.

If I were to spend a hundred dollars on a pair of sunglasses, they'd be prescription sunglasses (seeing as I wear eyeglasses) or a second set of glasses with transitional lenses. But, as it is, I would not buy the MW3 sunglasses.

A glasses company wants to cash in on Call of Duty's name along with headsets, posters, soft drinks, and various other objects. Nothing seems out of line.

I swear if they put a hidden camera with a usb port on these, they would be the coolest game extra around, but no. It just there to make the contrast a bit clearer while costing almost $100. I wont be purchasing them.
