For all the bashing I like to do of CoD, I still get many hours of enjoyment out of each game. So will it be frustratingly imbalanced and unpolished? Yes. Will it rock in the sense that I will get more than my money's worth in how many hours of enjoyable online play I get from it? Yes.

It's going to suck.
That isn't going to stop me from getting it though. I mean, I have to ask for SOMETHING for Christmas right?

I don't know whether to get it or wait.

If I get it straight away then it'll be at it's best. I mean MW2 was pretty good IMO before everyone discovered the glitches and imbalances in that game. If I wait maybe they'll put the extra effort into patching and balancing... but after MW2 I'm skeptic.

I think I'll wait on it a bit. Give it a few weeks to see how it goes post-launch.

It's going to be the same as every other call of duty. I traded in black ops and two other games for Mortal Kombat because of how boring Call of Duty has gotten. I can't wait for Battlefield 3.

Although I know no details of the upcoming MW3, I feel the SP/MP dichotomy is getting to be overdone. The formula works for the devs because adhering to focusing on MP as a major selling point while incorporating story elements, factions, locales, etc. from the single player campaign keeps a consistent pace on what is released as content.

Speaking of content, I appreciate the various extra game modes that are added in each new game, such as Nazi Zombies, Spec Ops, and Dead Ops because they add an optional experience without having to detract from the SP/MP formula. Although they do not always become commonplace game modes, seeing Zombies in Black Ops as an exception to what becomes a standard game-type due to popularity gives me hope that the developers' 'experimental' game types are more than just simple extras, but a hopeful addition to content, as well as an openness to change. They just have to work on how they define a shooter to make more cool additions, which brings me back to my 'overdone' aspect...

..The Call of Duty franchise has never been more than a mindless shooter. A fun, mindless shooter, and I occasionally play the games, with perhaps added feelings of some frustrations in the mix regarding the multiplayer component.

But it can never be more than that. Unless IW takes a new approach to producing games by breaking the mold and releases something mindblowing such as developing a new and interesting IP, or maybe revamping the SP/MP orientation.

Then again, why fix what ain't broken? Or so thinks IW and Treyarch.

After CoD4's release, the same method to game production has been applied, although with minimal risk by adding minor features, over, and over, and.. we keep getting similar games, if not arguably the same games. I'm kinda tired of the stagnation TBH. I've opened myself up to other genres by now.

One more thing. I voted WAFFLES because I couldn't resist. I love silly poll options.

Consider this post a 'I don't care either way.'

Sometimes I wonder how many people can tell the difference between Treyarch and Infinity Ward. But that's besides the point.

I feel it'll be worth buying. Maybe not for $60 unless the campaign is a load longer, but it'll end up worth it in the end.

I'll still prefer BF3 however. And, just for kicks, I also feel 'MW' should NEVER be used in an abbreviation unless it refers to the MechWarrior series. Seriously, Modern Warfare has nothing on that.

I don't play call of duty (I don't like realistic war games, I prefer 3rd person action games like assassins creed, god of war, and uncharted), and it seems every time I see new games coming out there's always a new COD and it's starting to get ridiculous. How many of these modern warfare games are they gonna make?

Just another FPS I won't buy.

It's going to suck. Activision's treatment of Infinity Ward doesn't help anything, but i think MW and MW2 sucked. CoD uses a terrible game engine that rewards spray-and-pray tactics in multiplayer. Couple that with the lack of dedicated servers, and you've just shot your game in the foot. Add in the crappy storyline, and you've Kurt Cobain-ed your entire franchise. Activision has killed every franchise it has touched: Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero being the big two. CoD is going to end up the same way.

I'll have my issues with it, but overall I'll like it enough to want to play through it a few times and that'll be my fix of military FPSs for the year. I'll also be clueless as to the problems people complain about because they'll be complaining about the multiplayer while the only thing I will have touched will be single player.
