Personally I think Modern Warfare Three is going to be a much more fulfilling experience than Battlefield Three, mainly due to the story which will finally see its conclusion.
However I seem to be in the vast minority on this opinion, everyone seems to think Battlefield Three will be an epic experience of jesus proportions!
Thoughts below.

You're probably just in the minority on this site. I'm pretty sure that MW3 sales numbers are going to run circles around BF3's. Which is a shame, because I also think that BF3 looks like it will be better than MW3.

Where's the option for them both sucking? Or, "I don't give a fuck about either of them"?

Heck, where's the option for "Wait until the games come out before you start making assumptions over the general quality."

Aye aye aye, we have this so often that x will outshine y for no reason. Personally, I think Mass Effect 3 will kick both of their asses, but it's not thread worthy.

OT: I'll judge when they both give us some multiplayer footage to go on.

Calumon: Maybe everyone in this thread has a magical crystal ball and can see anything they want! :D

What I learned from this site, is that This forum isn't a reliable site for discussing CoD games.

I'm a fan of the old games, But I am boycutting this one, why? Because it's a repacking of MW2 basically, I want to see the story come to an end, but not through playing, I'd rather read a synopsis, then I don't need to play it.

The killing blow for me was in a recent interview with the lead designer I belive from IW he was asked the very simple question :"Whats new in the game" and he was dumbstruck for a few seconds before adding "The story will be concluded and We've worked alot on the Spec Ops (co-op) missions" Thats not enough, sorry, but no, If CoD is going to redeem itself in any way, it has to reinvent the wheel basically.

I do however hope I can play the Spec Ops at a friends house or something, they are hallarious with a friend, but I don't want to pay for the whole game and give Activision more money than necessary because of 1 good aspect of the game.

But, on the MW3/CoD /BF3, I'm hoping BF would come out on top, But as last year when people was trying to compare MW2 to BFBC2, IT makes no sense, the games are radically diffrent, I enjoy my fast paced gameplay in CoD, but sometimes, I just want to be on the edge of a massive map with a sniper rifle picking them off as my prey. None of the two games can honestly say they have satisfied both of these feelings for me. CoD does frantic highly energitic games best, where BF just do slow tactical movement and hyped up tank battles best.

The Reason Why I picked No, is not due the fact of the Quality of game MW3 will be. It's the fact that their 2 different ways of playing a FPS. Modern Warfare is more of the Over the Top Experience you would mostly see in a (insert generic director here!) Summer Blockbuster.

While Batllefield 3 on the other hand, is based more on Realism (both Graphic-wise/Gameplay-wise).

I can see Why People would defend one franchise over the other and/or Vice Versa. But the fact of the matter is that it really comes down to which franchise he or she has the more enjoyment.

It won't be, and I'll revise my opinion in the unlikely event of MW3 having any meaningful story or introducing anything interesting or novel to the online experience.

Modern Warfare for the singleplayer, Battlefield 3 for the multiplayer.

Honestly, they're 2 shooters that, while looking the same, really have 2 completely different gameplay styles. It makes no sense pitting one against the other, I just hope I can enjoy both.

MW3 is going to have a better SP, simply because DICE don't do SP.

When it comes to the MP of both games, they are both completely different games. It would be like comparing CS:S to BF2. One is small teams fighting against each other in a very fast paced shooter not so heavily reliant on tactics/strategy, where as the other is huge open battlefield with armies fighting each other and heavily reliant on tactics/strategy, and isn't as fast paced.

Some people prefer one type of FPS over the other, simple as that.

Simply put; I think people are sick of the CoD extravaganza formula; as Yahtzee said in his MW2 review, you can't keep doing exactly the same thing over and over and expect it to be just as effective. Do I think Battlefield 3 will be the best FPS ever? Certainly not, but I am not expecting anything from MW3; from all the press releases and gameplay footage, it looks like nothing has changed from MW2 and considering how much I despise that game means that there is nothing in it for me to like. So far. It still has 5 months to try and impress me, but I'm not holding my breath. And I'm still on the fence with BF3; it looks good in the campaign, but looking good and being good are two very different things in my books.

MW2's story was terrible, and MW3's story will be just as stupid. The story is barely there, it's just an excuse to have random set pieces all over the place.

Cool. I'm not judging them until they're released.

Either way, I think I could write the conclusion to the series by doing a few too many drugs and watching every Michael Bay movie ever.

I can't say that I don't expect Battlefield 3 to be any less shitty.

Still, I must say I've always prefer Battlefield's multiplayer.

Current poll after I voted:
Yes 2.7% (1)
...no 97.3% (36)

So, yea. I voted "...no", just in case that wasn't clear. :p
I'm not sure how good BF3 is really going to be, however, I'm still looking forward to it immensely. And while I know it's just my opinion, from everything I've seen on BF3 and MW3, I think I'll enjoy BF3 many times more than I will enjoy MW3...

Well look at that imbalance in the polls...
I used to be pretty big on the COD franchise, but Black Ops was a little dull in my opinion. It was balanced, for sure, but the lack of things to exploit brought the fun factor of the multiplayer experience down for me. The single player was decent at best.
And then the E3 showing of MW3 just looked like a bonus stage from MW2.
So while I can't predict the future and say Battlefield 3 is going to be the superior game, from what I've seen from both so far, Battlefield 3 looks as though it will be the better one.
