I'm going to take the high road in this debate by choosing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Mortal Kombat ninjas, Ermac would destroy every single wannabe ninja in Naruto.

Why? HE MADE A MAN'S ARMS EXPLODE WITH HIS MIND!

Have you guys even SEEN a real ninja before? How the fuck do MK ninjas look ANYTHING like a real ninja? Aesthetically, MK ninjas are JUST AS BAD as the Naruto ninjas.

In terms of actual actions, the Naruto ninjas often time go beyond just recon/espionage/assassins role and go straight for WMD, but they at least perform those functions from time to time. Not to mention, the Naruto universe actually tries to pull together a fairly sophisticated infrastructure system for their ninjas to operate in. MK Ninjas pretty much just do one thing, fight martial artists in neon color outfits.

So, who fills the better ninja role? Naruto universe ninjas, unquestionably.

OT: Who would win in a fight? I would again, have to give it to the Naruto ninjas. The power scale is just too great. Scorpion can breath fire, throw spears out of his hand, and punch really hard? Guess what, Sasuke pretty much did all of that in the first 10 eps. MK ninjas are all focused on the hand to hand aspect of combat, while Naruto ninjas tend to have a much wider diversity of specialties. (If you want to fit the MK guys into the Naruto universe lingo, think of them as mostly being REALLY good Taijutsu ninjas)

By later points of the show, we're not just looking at people who can say, punch through a wall or do minor teleportation. We're looking at people who can literally wipe villages out of existence without so much as a blink.

Not necessarily which is the better ninja through aesthetics, but which one you think performs like a Ninja better.
I'm not judging your post and if anything you brought about a good point. I just wanted to be clear that it's not necessarily about looking the part, although it would be nice to see an actual traditional ninja.......however I hear you can never see them until you die.

Okay thats an easy one because 99% of the characters in Naruto aren't ninjas. Ninjas (wether they be magical or regular) religh on stealth and descretion to get the job done while the naruto "ninjas" seem content with talking really loud and blowing up huge chunks of land with out landish magical attacks.

"Hey whats with that giant snake fighting that tornado?"

"Oh those are ninjas"

It's a little incongruous to criticize one series for being over-the-top when the other has cyborg ninjas that can blow up the world and its own representatives of the shouty school of martial arts.

Not to mention ignoring that one series also has ninjas with fairly quiet powers involving trapsetting, mind control, killing people with their own shadows, perfect disguises, movement reading, summoning and communicating with animal spies, and telescopic x-ray vision.

Like i said before, both series are low on the ninja totem pole for me. but mortal kombats ninjas seem more like ninjas and less like crazy wizards. I'll admit i'm being a bit facetious but as far as i'm concerned Nartuo lost its ninja rights when it decided to make its main character a loud mouth blonde kid in a bright orange jump suit. In any decent ninja story a child like that would have been killed to protect the clan.

Oh and smoke is arguably one of the most succesful ninjas ever...he assassinates the whole god damn world!

Thank you!!! Smoke does indeed act like a Ninja! He has smoke techniques he uses for both Combat and Stealth. Plus he can cook a person inside out just by poking them in their eye XD

Hmm strangely enough I agree to an extent. However when it comes to the abilities I think some of it is just overkill.
