The Brazen Bull is probably the most evil invention...

It was an execution device.. it was basically a large hollow brass bull.. The condemned was put inside, and a fire was lit under the bull, heating it to 800-900 degrees.. Inside the bull, the only source of air was a giant horn, that turned the screams of agony of the doomed into the sound of an angry bull.

If you think that any of those things is more evil then that.. I don't know what to tell you.
research Medieval Torture Devices.

you'll find some fucked up shit
I have done a little researches... the Brazen Bull was just an example that is clearly evil.. there are lots of crazy torture devices...

like.. I forget what it was called.. I think it had Steeple in the name... it bas basically a wooden pyramid that homosexuals were forced to sit on with their arms and legs tied.

I couldn't find the image, but if you find it, it's a real "oh my fucking god that's awful... yet... I'm laughing" sort of fucked uppedness.

None of these. People who look at such things miss out the benefits.
Exactly what you said, people just aren't using their brains or only thinking about themselves.

If anything, I would say the nuclear bomb since we should have never made anything that can wipe an entire civilisation and slowly destroy the world.

Even though they are cool in computer games.

The ones that get me are the execution devices that are meant to be humane.

This was developed as a "humane" way of execution:

The condemned was strapped to a post with a metal brace that went around the throat.. in the back of the post was a screw hole right about neck height... a huge manually operated drill was screwed into the back of the neck..

The idea was that the drill would seperate the vertebrae in such a way that it would immediately cause death.. which is fine, if the people are built exactly for the machine... more often then not, the drill would just rip through the neck, to the side of the spine, or drill right out through the mouth.

Humane? seriously, if you're going to execute me, shoot me twice in the head. Don't come up with some ridiculously contrived "humane" form of execution. If you're going to kill me, man up and do it.

Religion obviously. No other creation of mankind has directly lead to so many wars, deaths and schisms. When you've got people who believe in the same God, and the same Messiah killing each other over niggling differences you have a real problem. Such as the Catholics and Protestants in Ireland. Then you've got the Inquisition, the genocide of the Mayans, the cleansing in China and Japan of Christians, Muslims, Jews, the whole lot, and the Holocaust, I'd say you'd end up with more deaths due to religion than any other. Funny how an idea which is meant to save man's soul has killed more people than anything else.

Were you high when you made that poll? Every one of those listed is good.

Torture devices are the worst.

I also agree with the above post.

Oh no. Watches! Now we can tell what time it is when the sun goes down! Ahh, phones! Now we can talk to and be contacted by people who aren't in this room! Oh no! Medicine! Now our generation's surviving offspring won't be more immune to this particular strain of virus that the medicine cures anyway, because that's all the selection a virus (or other illness) would do! *Cough*

It's not like anyone's forcing you to live in the city with a desk job. You have a choice, you make compromises. If you want to live in a Luddite commune of some kind, that's a legitimate option. You can do that and other people can work in offices - with the benefits and drawbacks associated with a modern, structured, connected life.

Seriously, I like how some people who are all about eugenics have no idea how natural selection works.

I'm going with drugs here the rest aren't really evil in any significant way.
On a side note whats with all the religion bashing going on? If your atheist that's fine but don't go decrying peoples faith.

Imagination because someone or someones had to sit there and think all those things up before they could make it or use it in the manners discussed.
Take religion, imagine two people meeting:
Hi, that's a funny hat.
Thanks, my imaginary friend said I should wear it.
It's silly take it off.
No. My imaginary friend says torture rape and kill all who disagree with the hat and take all their property.
That makes no sense what so ever.
Perhaps but I already sharpened my pitchfork and my neighbors agreed to do exactly as I said so you lose.
Human history 101.

Definitely medicine. Where is the perfect human? It will never come to be, since bad genes don't die off in a world where the sick and diseased live long enough to pass on their ailments.

It's not bashing, it's stating a simple fact that people's faith has lead to more conflicts in human history than anything else. Even the Nazis were a Catholic society. It's fine to believe in God, but when you start forcing it on other people, or using it as a reason for violence, or denying historical usage of it as a reason for violence, then you've crossed the line.

Other: There is no invention that is inherently evil. We are given a set of tools, and our choice of how to wield these tools. I propose that torture devices are merely an amagamation of these tools, and while used almost exclusivly with ill intent are not evil in and of themselves.
