Like burning people is anymore original then punching people.Mezzamine said:Mp all the way. Mages have all the best attacks.
Oh,you just punched me? oh, how original...now BURN *****!
Well that seems to be how they work according to the polls, if you actually read them anyways.geldonyetich said:The Elder Scrolls series might have similarly named stats, but they operate in a pretty different manner. ATK isn't chance to hit, it's a derived weapon damage. DEF isn't a chance ot avoid being hit, it's a reduction of incoming damage. SPD isn't the model of speed you see in the poll, but rather a generic stat that determines the speed of movement (not attack). HP and MP are heavily derived from other stats. Luck is pretty close to operaitng the same, at least.KingPiccolOwned said:I am fairly certain I saw all of those in Oblivion. ATK, DEF, SPD, HP, MP, LUK are mostly stats you see in Japanese RPGs. Charisma not so much, I'll give you that.
In that case, I'll just load up Midas Magic for Oblivion and cast Wabbabeam, which turns any creature into another random creature (temporarily). Cast it on a sheep and watch it become an Ogre! Then get pummeled to death!funksobeefy said:Like burning people is anymore original then punching people.Mezzamine said:Mp all the way. Mages have all the best attacks.

I always go all attack cause I love seeing the large numbers fly!
Hey, no one's taller than the last man standing. That and the fact in RPG's, the bigger the mountain of corpses, the more the XP. Unless we're playing Fallout 3, in which case I'm just gonna pick a lock over here, disarm a trap over there, and voila! MAX LEVEL!!!!Amnestic said:In which case, Charisma for the reasons people stated above. I'll get my party filled with fighters, but if I can't spin a fanciful silver-tongued story to keep myself out of trouble, then I'll be very disappointed.Gigaguy64 said:Zarthek said:ATK and HP, with a little DEF. In other word's I'm usually a walking tank man.
Edit, The sentences after each stat on the poll made my day.i mean the basic points used to use special's, for EX this atk costs 30 mp or this spell costs 25 mp.Amnestic said:Define MP? Are we talking about a pool of energy you draw upon to cast spells which increases when your MP does or a stat which actually makes your spells more potent (ie. more MP=your fireball hits for one jillion damage)
The first two do, sure. However, they don't actually call it ATK (or attack) and DEF (or defense) in Oblivion. They actually just represent it with a little icon of a sword or shield.KingPiccolOwned said:Well that seems to be how they work according to the polls, if you actually read them anyways.geldonyetich said:The Elder Scrolls series might have similarly named stats, but they operate in a pretty different manner. Wait... this got turned around on me somehow. I don't know which side of this debate I'm on anymore. All I can remember is that I was supposed to be on the side of western rpg's.geldonyetich said:The first two do, sure. We're way off base. The point is that stats you have chosen are a lot more common in JRPGs than Western games. Western games are typically more like Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, Constitution, Charisma.
Flippin' deal with it and admit you like JRPGs already, geeze, I don't care. I'm just pointing out I can't identify with your stats much because I play more Western games.
It's cute how many of you kids on forums think every line of discussion is a debate.KingPiccolOwned said:Wait... this got turned around on me somehow.
