Name says it all. I get the demons and angels thing a lot, including games like:
Diablo
Devil May Cry
Bayonetta
Darksiders
Shadows of the Damned
Dante's Inferno
...to name a few.

Note: Ths is based solely on personal opinion and experience.

Good points, all of them. But still: War. Definietly. And not just because many of the other themes can be boiled down to it.

Women wearing skimpy clothing and it counting as 'Armor'. Sure, it's (often) nice to look at but it really does nothing in the line of protection one's hide.

Russia. Well, mostly overused in FPS games.
This, also. Though I think it applies to other media as well. I don't know how many times I've released a sigh when watching a movie where the Russians show up as bad guys, It's like the writers are still stuck in the Cold War...

War games have been made since the very early days of gaming, and they have remained a popular setting for almost every genre out there. I'd be very surprised if I found that they weren't the most common concept in gaming.

Well i happen to like DMC and Bayonetta but on topic why is there no option for the most overused "Chest high walls" concept since those appear in nearly every fps i can imagine to date.

I voted WAR.

But I must add, another "OVER-USED CONCENPT" that I'm getting sick of is ...

games beginning with a scene from near the end of the game, then shortly after taking you "24 hours earlier" etc. It's a cheap and lazy story-telling device (which is also annoying in movies).

I'm personally quite tired of zombies in general. Granted, I've never been much of a fan of them in the first place.

Bullet-time. Okay, technically it's a mechanic more than a concept, but I'll complain about it whenever the opportunity arises.

Of the ones you listed, I'm gonna have to say War. It's getting a bit tiresome. For my own, I think Spaghetti showing up on the screen when you're taking damage, I dunno if I'm in the minority or not but I prefer straight up Health, and if Regenerating Health is a must don't clog up my screen when I'm taking damage (think Halo vs CoD)

I'd say zombies, except there's still plenty of fun things to be done with them. In the end I'd have to go with war.

The Usual Suspects did it well. It can be executed but it shouldn't be the vehicle for the plot. Instead it should make you want to know what happened before.
