Man why all the hate on Cait Sith
I freaking love him!
Like Setzer of FF6, he's a neat character. I rather liked the idea of a Shinra insider working with Cloud ala remotely, and worked very well as a link to the story (but even Setzer wins that medal moreso). But in terms of gameplay, the cat was ghetto. :)

I think that the most useless character was Edward from FFIV...There were plenty of one time use characters, but he was the most God-awful one. He had no health, and enemies just seemed to gravitate to him.

I hate hope, I hate the character so much I refuse to use him when given the option, so i'm going to say him, even though technically he's not useless I guess.
The ironic thing is that he is the most powerful spell caster and is probably one of the most useful characters in the game.
It sucks.

Irving Final Fantasy 8 - Buddy's a sniper who hasn't ever killed anyone and when he tries to make a shot he can't do.

It's a big shame as I truely hated him as a character, I struggle to find one thing I liked about him. Still that entire game was quite strange for me, more than a month ago I got onto the 3rd disc, since then I haven't bothered playing it again. I just don't want to play that game, it's weird but all my mates have done the same.

Rikku is useful, as is Quina, as is Penelo. Hell Rikku is possibly my hardest character on X. She makes Auron look like a complete wuss. Only one of those I never did use was Cait Sith. Everyone else was just better.

Never use thses characters either because they are incredibly weak with dumb skill sets or have the absolutely sh*tiest weapons made available to them (yeah I'm looking at you Quina)
You have penelope and not vaan? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU! He is whiny and has basicaly no motivation to be any part of the story, everyone has good reasons to want to fight in the revolution except vaan who just kind of follows along for the ride and whines constantly. I dont use iether of these characters though.

Now now, I can safely say that all the characters in FFXII, except Bash and that Sky Pirate chap, are chosen to be the most useless FF characters ever. And heres why the poll is faulty. Quina may have seemed useless, but without her blubbering around like a diabetist, you wouldn't have found several things, as well as the fact that you would have fought the Earth Guardian alone, and hes a ***** without Trance on Zidane *Damn i was lucky*. Cait Sith, otherwise known as Reed, helped a great bunch in getting the Black Materia out of the temple, otherwise you would have been screwed having to sacrifice one of your players to get it. Last but not least, Rikku... umm... basic link to Al Bhed... brings life to the party.... SHES STILL BETTER THAN ALL CHARACTERS IN FF12!

Cait Sith is probably the most actually useless on this list, but I voted Quina 'cause s/he's confusing to figure out, and you get forced to fight with him/her during the four fiends section, such that if you weren't using him/her much, you are kind of teh hozed. (auto level-up doesn't help if you forgot to get good blue magic for her).

Also, Penelo is not remotely useless. She was a walking engine of magical destruction when I went through the game.

I initially thought Rikku when I saw that but Cait Sith wins it for me. Especially since he has that unpredictable limit break

My friends will kill me for saying this ... but Umaro (FFVI) ... sure he was pretty powerful and there was some fun relic combos you could put on him ... but come on ... story wise = useless ... and if I really wanted a bezerker I could just rage someone relevant

I picked Quina out of all the options due to finding most of his Blue Magic to be useless (Frog Drop is great if you play the Frog Catching game a lot, and some of his others are neat but I never used things like Night and 1000 Needles). I never really noticed Cait Sith being useless and I gave up on FF 12 after about 10 hours so I can't remember Penelope being useless, but I remember Rikku being useful for getting items and 1-shotting some machines (admittedly, a lot of those were weak anyway). Out of every FF character, I'd say Edward, going on the PS1 remake of FF4, is the worst due to his abilities, endurance and attack strength all being lacking (to be fair, his attack stat wasn't too bad by the time he was written out of the party but by that point he didn't make that much of a difference to how quickly fights ended).

What, no Yuffie, Hope or Vanille?

Seriously, frackin useless!

Or to go back even further, what about Black Belt? That's a useless character.

Penelo. Penelo all the way. She had as much plot significance as Malboro Overking W.

At least Vaan ran into Balthier, uniting us with one of the game's, rather, the franchise's most awesome characters.

Vaan, END OF DISCUSSION@!!11

That girl who pretends to be a guy was useless in battle and in the story of ff12. Hell!, he could have died, got lost, or simply left behind because he was so annoying, and everything would have turned out exactly the same. And that is a lot to say when you are talking about the main character.

Lightning + Fang + Vanille is actually one of the best teams you can have in Final Fantasy XIII. Although I use Lightning, Fang and Hope.

Tifa. Even though you can give her all the materia you want she always reeks of futility.
Lol what?

Like Knights of the Round, you use it once to see how awesome it is then realize it takes way too freaking long to sit there and go through every single time. By the time you finish inputting all the slots Cloud could already be done Omnislash, or Cid's Highwind could be over as well.

I'd agree with Edward being the worst but it does kinda go along with his character. Besides he's barely in the group for that long. Cait Sith betrays you, and I also hate, hate hate hate hate hate, how in the FFVII manual it says that Cait Sith is a cat riding on top of a "Mog". No, I won't stand for that BS Square. It's a moogle, not a mog. Mog is the moogle from FFVI and don't you forget that.

I agree with Rikku simply because she's in FFX-2, the worst thing attached to the Final Fantasy name since Spirits Within.

I was never a fan of using Relm or Strago either. Who fights using a paint brush?
Relm yeah I can understand that but Strago? Big Guard and Pearl Wind are sexy. Gau is just annoying since his Rages could only be learned in one specific area of the game, and that area didn't grant any exp.
