Poll: Movies in 3D for no reason

Am I the only one who thinks it's stupid to put most movies in 3D?

Avatar worked in 3D because it was literally designed from the outset to be a 3D experience. Alice In Wonderland had a lot of shots that were greatly enhanced by 3D. Tron's going to be awesome. But what benefit is there to putting movies like Step Up 3 in 3D? Or Yogi Bear (which shouldn't have been made in the first place; stop destroying things I loved as a child!), or The Nutcracker? And don't even get me started on the idea of "upscaling" 2D movies into 3D.

3D in its current form is immature and likely to be a passing fad as technology moves on to something better; stop drowning us in 3D movies that make no sense!

If I remember correctly, the recent 3D trend started with "Fly me to the Moon," a computer animated movie in 2008 that came out in digital 3D. After that, it seems like every other film is scared to not come out in digital 3D for fear of appearing "sub-par" or "inadequate."

I only see movies I'm interested in, and if the theater I'm near happens to have it in 3D, then I'll watch it. But I worked at Disney World over the summer and had infinite access to all the parks, so I think the novelty of 3D has worn off on me.

I think it can raise the immersion to a point, especially if it's something like Avatar or an action movie. I never saw Up in 3D, but I think it functioned just fine without it. Also I saw Toy Story 3 in both 2D and 3D, and I specifically remember being distracted by the glasses in the theater. I was constantly worried about the blurriness, and couldn't figure out if it was just me or if I got some fingerprints on the glasses. But when I saw it in 2D, I was able to get into the movie much easier.

If you don't like 3d then don't watch it, there is no reason for spoiling the fun of others..
I think 3d is a new tech that nerds like to work with even if no one wants it it is still being made (just like dlc's).

I like 3D a lot when it is used properly. In a movie designed to be a 3D experience I feel it usually turns out good. However in a lot of movies they just make it 3D for absolutely no reason which does nothing to enhance the experience. Done properly though 3D can make a good movie great with more appealing visuals.

I think that it worked for campy horror films, My Bloody Valentine and Piranha. I did see Up in 3D and I was not impressed. The film was amazing, I just didn't see the need for 3D.

At this point, if I have a choice, I'm going to pick 2D every time.

Your not alone i usually hate the idea of 3d movies since i wear glasses its highly annoying for me to put another set over my own and makes viewing not comfy along with the view ive seen most 3d movies don't really have that much eye boggling effects like resident evil afterlife for example:

The movies only slightly decent 3D points were when the executioner swung his axe at alice and claire and maybe the destruction of tokyo but thats about it.

I answered: If a movie I'm watching anyway is in 3D, that's how I see it.
Of course that only applies to made for 3D movies. Movies like Clash of the Titans, I would never see in 3D. Other movies randomly using 3D I generally have no wish to see, so that has never been a problem for me.

I would tolerate 3D a lot more if the glasses weren't so DAMN uncomfortable and awkward.

I have seen a couple movies in 3D, just to get the experience... Being there, done that. Now I have seen the gimmicky of it, I have no interest in seeing anything in 3D if the 2D version is available.

Don't make the mistake of thinking 3D is a directors choice, with any kind of artistic merit wheter the movie is in 3D. A movie is hardly better for being in 3D, nor any part of the message gets lost if its not seen in 3D. The decision to make the movie in 3D is a BUSINESS decision, so that cinemas can charge more and studios can get more out of the box office.

I like movies in 3D if it's well implemented. Some movies that have been later converted to 3D just aren't great (Toy Story 3) but some of the effects in Avatar were great (despite the movie not being hugely great).

Inception's a movie I wish was in 3D.

No you're not. Some of the first few 3D mainstream films seemed a bit pointless to me as i didn't see very much differece between the 2D and 3D. Filmakers also use the cheap trick of having something fire out of the screen directly at you, which would have been more entertaining if it wasn't overused to the point of predictability. It kind of screams "hey, look i'm 3D" to me which really spoils the immersion of a film for me.

In england there's a film called Street Dance 3D that really should't have been in 3D as it didn't add anything the the film. Mos of the time i only go to the cinema with friends, so they usually decide whether or not we watch 3D but usually i prefer 2D, especially since it's cheeper.

This was the only film I really kinda actually wanted to see in 3D. Because I just figured hilarious pranks and stupid tricks would be even more humerous when they appear to be coming from around you.

But otherwise I'm not really seeking 3D films and usually get a bit put off when that's all the trailer focuses on. If it's just "3D!! 3D!! 3D!!" then it loses me.

If the movie is visually impressive, and focuses a lot on it's visuals.
If it was made as a stereoscopic movie in the first place, post-productionally implemented stereoscopic stuff like trash of the titans, no thx, that movie was hard enough on the eyes in the first palce due to some tard thinking "hey lets put a rumble-pack on the camera whenever theres an action shot!" and the tards letting him do it.

3D films (3d as in aniamted movies) It just works much better here IMO, because the "fake" depth works well with already toony visuals, and the movie is easier to tweak to work well.
