If a movie will be released in 2D and 3D, I'll try my best to see the 2D version because I'm a cheapskate, but recently that has been very difficult.

It depends really. If the movie was meant to be in 3D and/or makes good use of this aspect ALA Avatar, then I may go see the 3D version of it. But more often than not I hear about movies where the 3D seems to be tacked on and only helps to nauseate everyone in the theater with how bad it is plus the glasses that you need to wear. Most often of all I just see the movie normally and then wait for the DVD release which will more than likely have a 3D format and its own glasses....shame alot of those times the glasses are so cheap the film 'lenses' fall off while in the case and are usually that color mulching red and blue/green styled. So over all I think 3D can work....but is just abit difficult at this point

3D movies don't even look 3D. If I focus really hard I can see it, but I don't want to strain my eyes throughout an entire movie. At first with 3D movies I was expecting things to pop-out, all I see is that one object is in front of another. I can see that is 2D as well without having to wear the stupid glasses over top my actual glasses.

Well Avatar was fantastic in 3D, I say it was the best movie visually ever.
As for you people complaining about every movie becoming 3D now adays. STOP GOING TO THE MOVIES, you do not have to see these movies, it's your choice to. So shutup a your face you stupid gaboon.
I'm not going to torment myself by watching more, but I can still say my opinion on the them.

3D should have taken it a bit more slow. Its like when you listen to that good song that comes out on the radio 20 thousand times and its on more than one station at a time. You get tired of it. The first 3D thing I ever saw was at like a theme park or something. And now they even have those 3D TVs they are over doing it.

There's a very good reason i.e they can charge more and it makes movie piracy more difficult

It's funny how I have not read a single post yet that has acknowledged subjectivity might exist on the matter.

If it's not your bag, ignore it, 3D movies always have 2D showings for those who are so inclined. Personally, I like it, Jackass 3D was a blast...I hurt from laughing. I'm thinking about buying a 3DTV, my eyes don't seem to struggle with it, and I've always appreciated good cinematography as much as good narrative(why insist that narrative is the only thing that matters when you can have both?).

To sum up, 3D is not worthless just because you say it is.

Personally, I think stereoscopic 3D has much more potential in video games due to their interactive nature. While I am sure 3D is nice in movies, I doubt the passiveness of the experience will allow it to be anything other than a novelty.
