That is Power Metal, with dashes of random stuff. It'll probably be way different next year.

metalcore, screamocore, emocore, post-hardcore, where you've got the -core, i'll probably be listening to it.
I especially love the welsh bands, things like funeral for a friend, and bullet for my valentine, yourcodenameis: milo, other great non-welsh bands, i don't know, alesana, emarosa, aiden, drop dead gorgeous, devil wears prada, silverstein, ..tons more.
I'll sometimes listen to the older system of a down stuff. I'll also listen to some pop punk, (alkaline trio).
I always have some metal, and for that in that i listen to Heaven Shall Burn.

I listen to Aesop Rock, Daft Punk, Justice, The Postal Service, lots and lots and lots of Gorillaz, some Romantic era classical and fill the rest of my day listening to jazz.

I like techno and electronic; mostly because these types of music often don't have lyrics and are easier to listen to when I'm trying to mellow out or do something productive (and don't want someone droning in my ear about their tragic, shattered love life or screeching at me about how they want to burn everyone they've ever met).

That said, I also enjoy just about every other type of music. I just happen to the the sort who likes specific songs more than entire genres. The only genre I genuinely dislike is country, because it has the highest concentration of the two musical tropes I hate the most: repetitive, twangy guitar sounds, and whiny love songs.

What kind of band is Muse? All i've heard of them was Knights of Cydonia on guitar hero 3 and it sounded quite terrible to me. Maybe i haven't heard their good stuff.
It's hard to give them a specific label. But their best stuff would be:

Starlight
Time is Running Out
Hysteria
Sunburn
Uprising
Resistance
Plug in Baby

Thats in no particular oder by the way. Chances are though if you don't like Knights of Cydonia (only reason I haven't put it there is because you've already said you don't like it) you might not like the rest though their new album (The Resistance) and is fantastic and I believe Uprising rivals Starlight for their best song.
Awesome stuff there, straight away. But I have to add, Supermassive Black Hole, Knights of Cydonia, and Assassin to that list. Although my favourites are still Time Is Running Out and Starlight.

Anyway, I can't bothered to post my favourite bands, so here's [http://www.last.fm/user/Trivun] a link to my Last.fm profile and you can view my library for yourself. And listen to some great music too, while you're there. Generally though, I'm more into rock and indie. Plus a bit of drum 'n' bass...

I'm a fan of indie/garage rock and some indie pop.
Indie is where the real rock music is at nowadays.

From Metal to Mellow with Rock inbetween.
Kamelot, Foo Fighters, Coldplay just to name some of many.
Quite a contrasting range, eh?
No pop or rap. Grr.

I don't get why your poll is really on one side of the spactrum, its all variations of rock or metal, the only exceptions are Assorted Blues and Classical.

However i like Country, Soft Rock, Rock, Cinimatic, Bagpipe, Banjo, and some Indie bands.

I cannot believe Death Metal/Black Metal/Screamo is a bloody option... that's disgraceful.

Why does heavy metal always seem to be a popular contender in threads like this? Is there some sort of massive popular heavy metal uprising I'm not aware of?

Vivaldi is my favorite composer. Modern composers I'd have to give that to Clint Mansell, both albums for The Fountain and Requiem for a Dream are absolutely amazing; so much emotion put into the music.

That is my personal requirement for music, it has to make me feel something and I need to be able to hear the emotion in the vocals. And when it comes to music with vocals Nine Inch Nails, Tool/APC, Muse.

The general public is just a bit confused as to what actually constitutes "heavy metal", is at least part of the equation. Additionally, I doubt many self-respecting fans of Death metal would lump themselves in with the Screamo crowd for a poll.

I voted heavy metal, because that makes up the majority of what I listen to. However, I am a big fan of Green Day, and I used to be in the jazz band in middle school, so I kind of like jazz.
