Actually realisticly preproduction started before mw2 was even released. People dont pay developers to sit on their ass and do nothing which is exactly what you are suggesting.

The reason Battlefield 3 was in production for three years was because they created a whole new engine for it. Your assumptions about why certain employees split from infinity ward are also hilarious and are opposite to the reasons stated everywhere. It was because of money.
In this case, IW didn't sit on their arse as they were in a huge legal dispute that ended with 70% of the workforce walking.

Yes, BF3 has a whole new game engine; but MW3 is currently built on a massively glitchy, outdated game-engine. It would've been wiser to re-write the damn thing rather than just run with it like they're doing.

Most people can tell if they don't like a game within the first hour or two.

Not you I guess, had to stretch that shit out over a couple of weeks before you decided it was your worst game ever.
Well after playing such an amazing game as MW1 I tried to like MW2. But after a few weeks I came to my conclusion. HOw are you not getting this? It's not me as after playing DMC4 for the first time I decided almost instantly that it was crap & only completed it to get my money's worth & as something to do until the next day where I sold it back at the shop. Damn, your nitpicking and polarised view on how other people attain opinions is pissing me off.

The legal dispute most likely did not have a large effect on it. They brought in another studio to replace everybody who left. Calling the engine massively glitchy is just hilarious on your part and once again shows your ignorance.
So I explain my factual-based opinions, then give a reference for my exclamations. Then re-explain multiple times why I think the game is crap, poor, nothing more than a money grabber & then, even then you say one of my points for me which is "games need more time in development" (which is pretty much the founding of my hate towards CoD); yet you still see me as a bad guy. How?

I hate that game, some of its devs & Activision for dragging CoD the way of Guitar Hero (except buggier and bloated with a bad community & unfair multiplayer). All they need to do is spend more time on it, but Activision won't have that. All I'm saying is I will not be buying MW3 due to a shocking track record and profound evidence that the game will be no more of a horrible mess than MW2 was.

EDIT: the game engine is to blame for a LARGE majority of fault with the game; the rest is down to a lack of effort in testing/maintenance of the game. How is that ignorance, exactly?

I'm actually buying BF3, since i'm poor and can afford only a game I choose the one to benchmark my pc, and drive vehicles.

Just because you don't like somthing or don't want to buy it doesn't mean it's bad.
But it does. Bad and good are subjective terms, and if person X doens't like a game then it is a bad game in their eyes.

I would call Crysis a bad game. I didn't like it. I felt it was a bland, boring, samey sandbox shooter who's sole claim to fame is how hard it was to run. It is a benchmark that claims it's a game.Way better than MW2 though, that went flying past bad into "Bloody awful!" by the time I was ramping a snowmobile over a ravine...Crysis was at least amusing in the same way a Stallone flick is amusing, and I didn't feel like the fifteen I bought it for was wasted. But other people like it, they would call it good.

See how that works?
I'll agree with you there. What is good or bad is mainly subjective. To me though, it just seems like there are a lot of people on here that don't seem to realize people do in fact enjoy playing these kinds of games. Not to mention they seem to have this superiority complex that makes them think they are better than people who play things they don't like. And that just bugs the shit out of me. It's really no different from the rabid fanboys of certain games that most of us like to criticize.

I will be buying it. I love Call of Duty games.

And thanks for reminding me of the mountain dew and doritos promotion, I almost forgot about it.

Probably in about five years or so, when the used price is around what it's actually worth. I can't bring myself to fund Activision, plus it's basically going to be the same game as all its predecessors.

Blatant lies and misconceptions. All of which so far I have given profound evidence for and if you really, really fucking want, now you have pissed me off; I can write you a FUCKING list with the faults with MW2's game engine. I can write you a fucking list of the faults, and explanation as to how it's a fault in the first place, how it slips past most people who are IGNORANT to said fault & how the fucking developers can fix it if they put the fucking time into maintaining the game. Another fucking point in why 70% of IW told Activision to fuck off (because they weren't being given the time to maintain the game like they wanted) much like I'm about to tell you to fuck off.

Fucking hell; I'm trying to give you a constructive argument and all you're doing is calling bluffs; of which there aren't any; and now you just call me ignorant for having the ability to prove your beloved game is bullshit & why the next is going to follow suit too.

EDIT: If you look back my posts have been constructive, informative with profanity kept to a minimum while yours have not. This post is being borderline rage. So don't you fucking dare mention it / use it as an example as I haven't brought anything to the table for a change.

Its frustrating as shit online when you pay attention to your K/D ratio, have a crappy connection so you shot someone like 15 times and knife them and they somehow dont die and lose to stupid things like care package gunships but if you dont care and your connection doesnt activly try make you not have fun it can be relaxing and you can just dick around with an asp pistol and enjoy yourself

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning."

Not that I would know there is any napalm in those games. I've barely played them.

You took the words out of my mouth, I was trying to find a way to say that without trading on toes and starting a stupid fight. I do not find the game relaxing because of all the bullshit and I spawn and die 1 second later all the freaking time. I'm not one of those stereotypical loudmouths you hear about, I usually am a calm gamer, but this game gets my blood boiling.

So I havent bought any of the past CoD games, or BF, Ive just never been a big FPS person, and almost everyone I've ever seen/heard online while playing at a friends house or at school was a complete ah... troll... but i was going to buy MW3 partly because I've liked playing it enough at other peoples houses that i thought i would get it, and partially so people have something to play at my house because I really only play one player games, and am just not a big fan of the online communities of any game for the same reason as CoD but usually to a lesser degree. But after hearing about the free exp with doritos and other chips, my brother and I both strongly feel that we shouldn't by it because we dont want to support this marketing strategy/sponsorship or anything having to do with it.
We are both "hardcore" gamers, and I personally think the Wii and people pandering to casual gaming can get struck by lightning for all i care, and the trend is worsening the quality of games and gaming a a whole, but oddly enough the subway thing for uncharted 3 Multiplayer doesn't bother me...

so are you going to buy MW3, wait until the price drops, or not buy it at all? why or why not, and has anything changed your stance on the matter?
are you complaining about chips giving away exp? please explain how and why thats bad

That guy, Bvenged? Give this man a freaking medal. He has stated everything wrong with the game, and the series. Bloated, buggy games with a campaign whose attempts at modern are just the same cold-war pro-usa gunwank, a community thats half 5-year-old inbreeds and half "pro gaymerz", not nearly enough side content, and multiplayer so imbalanced only MVC3 beats it out. It has its good moments, like the nuke scene in MW1, and the Vorkuta escape in BlOps, but its just not enough.

Oh, and the Doritos? That is a terrible idea and I hope the codes on the marked packets actually ban you so we dont get any EXP whores.

Two words: f*ck it. Seriously, I no longer give a sh*t about COD. I loved the first one and MW1, but every other one has just hurt me. I genuinely only came on this thread because of the Doritos thing.

I'll let the cynical brit stage this one for me.

Its just absolutely disgraceful, telling kids to buy tons of our fattening products and get a ingame bonus, what does that speak to gamers as a whole? It tells the outside world that were all overweight, obese people who fixate on killing muslims or equal and live in a fantasy world.
This is also bad for the image of Activision or Battle Field 3's producer / developer. Their basically rewarding lounging there drinking / eating all of these fat foods, for what? So you can cross promote of this shit in the future?

Seriously, fuck you companies that are running this shenanigans, its reasons like this people can not take gaming seriously or respect it as a medium, fuck you guys.

Actually, yes, its like the Sin to Win contest EA had for Dante's Inferno, you want to know how that turned out? It turned out with both Gaming and real world bashing on it. What did this simple and harmless contest say about the gaming community? That we are all under 18 and want nothing more then to see boobs. Thats not all, I'm going to point back to the original ad for Dante's Inferno, the one to where EA payed protestors money to fakely protest their game and feel like they were religiously offended by it. It basically shows that the community are all children, really. Even look at EA's trailer for Dead Space 2, they made an ad which wouldn't boost game sales, and marketed the game to pre teens or younger.

The actual Doritos / Pepsi contest is also the same thing, shines the whole medium underneath a bad light.

You really need somebody to tell you why blaming a game engine of an extremely popular game because you didnt like it is ignorance?

As I said before I have no problem with you hating the game I am just pointing out all of your blatent lies and misconceptions.
Sorry to but in, but the game itself and the engine are all borderline shit on a rythm stick. He is not lying nor is he wrong, he is also not ignorant because those are real problems with the engine, can you tell me how Quick Scoping emerged? It became because it was a glitch, and they still have not fixed it, and its been plenty of chances to do so. All CoD is shallow fun.

Oh joy, another thread talking about how games like COD, or "casual" games like the Wii's library are ruining the quality of games as a whole.

Get off your high horse. Just because you don't like somthing or don't want to buy it doesn't mean it's bad.

As for me, I don't plan on buying MW3. But not because I'm part of the anti-COD bandwagon, I'm just not interested in it what's so ever.
Its not about the games, its about this.
