I played X first, when I got my PS2 - I never had a PS1 or Nintendo. And I thought it was pretty awesome. Put about 100 hours into it, which was the most time I'd ever committed to a game.
Then XI was an MMO.
Then X-2 was kind of lame.
Then I couldn't be bothered with 12.

I might get 13. Might.

I went back and played 8 and 9, which I found to be too ugly and uninteresting after getting used to X on the PS2. I can see why people would have fond memories (though I still don't understand the obsession with 7).

My first was Final Fantasy VII, on my PS1 which was my first console. Overrated by legions of fanboys it may be, but it still holds a special place in my heart. I'd say my favourite in the series however is VI.

Dude tbh the only reason I went on this thread is to ask whats the deal with final fantasy, I've never played one, not only because i never see them in like shops, but also its like, isn't it just a really complicated story line intermingled with women with large boobs swinging swords around? I dunno, perhaps one of you could enlighten me on whats so great about final fantasy...

7, I thought it was amazing and I still have it now, hopefully 13 will be a good final fantasy.
8 was good, the graphics were slightly updated but GFs were annoying to get though i liked it.
10 was great, graphics were brill, gameplay was just right and the characters were brilliant.
10-2 should never have existed
12 was an epic dissapointment

It was either Tactics or VII for PS1. I was around 8 at the time, so I don't remember very much of either, except the Train Graveyard of VII, but that's because I rented Dirge of Cerberus last month.

The first Final Fantasy I ever played was Final Fantasy II on the SNES (now known as IV on the DS). I'd been watching my brother play it for hours on end and always wondered what was so great about it. When I finally tried for myself, I had no idea what I was doing, and ended up getting stuck in the Magnetic Cave where you're not supposed to use metal weapons or armor.... But I was still hooked.

The first one I played successfully was probably VII. When III (VI) came out on SNES, the finer points of RPG gaming still went over my head, but by the time VII rolled around, I was starting to get the hang of it. I distinctly remember getting stuck only a few times through the whole game, and even then, it was only because I was missing something obvious (Case in point; Midgar Zolom. I kept trying to fight it, until my brother finally said, "You're supposed to cross the marsh on a chocobo, dumbass.").

I never really got why people complain that Final Fantasy games have complicated storylines. They really aren't that hard to understand, if you're paying attention to the dialogue, and yes, that includes VII.

As for the women with large boobs... As far as gaming has come, the core demographic is still teenage boys. Teenage boys like women with large boobs.

I began with the old school titles starting with 4 and 6 and eventually moving up to 10 and 12.

FF7 was my first, I find it funny that everyone says how overrated it is and then says how 6 is 100x better. The thing is, everyone says this leading me to think 6 must be over rated as a backlash of 7s popularity, I havn't played 6 though so I dont know.

Well, this is an odd conundrum.

Mine was America's 3, Japan's 6.

First one I've beaten? ... I'll tell you when I manage it.

FF7 was my first and my most favourite, must of been pretty young at the time thinking back to it.

Played 8 and 9 but gave up near the end as I lost interest.

10 I tried to play but the voice acting put me off too much and made me realise that I had grown out of Final Fantasy games so I gave it a rest.

Mine was FF10 since a friend of mine said that 8 and 7 where really good. I was too young to understand that each Final Fantasy is different since Final Fantasy 10 is alot different from the others (Being based on islands then huge castles). So all the others don't seem good in comparison but I think the main reason of that is that I expected every Final Fantasy to have voices so thats what stoppped me from playing others. I am playing FF4 now and I am enjoying it so far.
