Poll: My arguement with an Army guy. Over ODST.

He had a pretty stupid argument. Its like he believes that you gain unlimited wisdom and honor the moment you join the military and everybody should recognize that. Its like when you correct someone and they flip out and yell that they have a PHD or something.

I hope he ends up as a P.O.W.

Did he actually present any points to prove his point that the story is great? No, he just resorted to personal insults and pathetic attempts to assert his superiority through totally irrelevant facts about himself. Just ignore dickheads like that.

Soldiers are stationed across the globe, not just in combat zones. You can't expect all of them to be fighting at the same time.

OT: I certainly hope no one I meet in the Air Force acts this unprofessionally.

Maybe not in the case of the Iraq war, I'm not gonna open that can of worms, but just maybe that individual thinks the country's worth defending and feels it's his/her duty to help? Maybe that person feels a need to help liberate allies under attack? No, it is really stupid to just assume shooting things and the GI Bill are the only reason for fighting.

I suppose, but assholes flaunting the fact that they're being shot and their mates are dying... it's a kind of stupid I can't comprehend.
I concede that generalizing is bad, but it just seems like the group mentality that goes with being in the army promotes the existence of pricks.

So I was talking with my friends about how they liked ODST (Stayed up all night/skipped school just to play it) and they were like "Its awesome" and such. So then I asked the question "How's the story?" and they said "Great!".


But the real "Argument" started when I said
"I saw a review of it online and all it said was that the story just holds the game together."

So then the army dude gets PISSED! Like seriously angry. He yells

"So what, you gonna believe some stupid fucking gaming site? This story is fucking GREAT!"

I just chip in

"I dunno, Bungie isn't known for great stories. Look at almost any other gaming company for that"

So he gets even angrier (Please note, I have no idea he's in the army at this point)

"FUCK YOU! You don't know SHIT about gaming and is probably a twelve year old who's balls haven't dropped!"

So naturally I went for his maturity.

"Wow, cussing and jokes about my age, great, but I'm fifteen and probably more mature then your stupid fanboy ass."

"Ahahaha! Just talk to my commanding officer *****! Thats right. THE FUCKING ARMY!"

"Dude, your commanding officer would be fucking ASHAMED of you for boasting about being in the army in an argument about videogames."

So I ask of you after this long post, was I right to say this?

HEY! dont fuck witht the Army, you wouldnt survive a day in boot camp, you have no idea what these guys have to do, and I have friends in the Army, they are pissed all the time. Ive seen this before, I know peoples behavior, judging on the emphasis of his tone he probably isnt pissed at yopu, he just got stuck with night watch thats all.

I have friends in the Navy, Marines, and Army, they all act like that when their commanding officer gives them a job.
