HEY! dont fuck witht the Army, you wouldnt survive a day in boot camp, you have no idea what these guys have to do, and I have friends in the Army, they are pissed all the time. Ive seen this before, I know peoples behavior, judging on the emphasis of his tone he probably isnt pissed at yopu, he just got stuck with night watch thats all.

I have friends in the Navy, Marines, and Army, they all act like that when their commanding officer gives them a job.

So let it go k, =)
Oh shut up.

I grew up on Navy bases and have been around soldiers most of my life, this kind of behavior is inexcusable.

You say you knew allot of people who acted like this? You knew allot of pricks then. It doesn't fly, trust me.

It's nice that he enjoyed the story, but if your lines are accurate, he sounds like quite the over-defensive fanboy >_>

Regardless of whether or not he's in the army, he seems to be a ponce.

Speaking as a soldier, I have to comment on this.
One, I HIGHLY doubt this dude you spoke with was actually in the army. Mostly because the LAST thing any soldier would EVER say is "Take that up with my commanding officer." Also, "That's right, the fucking ARMY." No soldier ever wants anything in their life to be brought to their NCO support channel or their chain of command, especially not them swearing at a civillian over a videogame.

Also, I am in the army, and while I'm more of a PS2 fan, I still rock the Xbox ever so often.

You were absolutely right to say this. Most likely, he's not even in the Army. If he is, he's one of those dickweed E-2's that have just enough rank to command the E-1's, but brown-noses for E-3's and up.

All of my military buddies never boast about being in the military, nor do they pull rank on civilians. Service rarely comes up in casual conversation and generally never in heated debate.

(This argument is over Xbox Live and with some guy I don't know)
So I was talking with my friends about how they liked ODST (Stayed up all night/skipped school just to play it) and they were like "Its awesome" and such. So then I asked the question "How's the story?" and they said "Great!".

But the real "Argument" started when I said
"I saw a review of it online and all it said was that the story just holds the game together."

So then the army dude gets PISSED! Like seriously angry. He yells

"So what, you gonna believe some stupid fucking gaming site? This story is fucking GREAT!"

I just chip in

"I dunno, Bungie isn't known for great stories. Look at almost any other gaming company for that"

So he gets even angrier (Please note, I have no idea he's in the army at this point)

"FUCK YOU! You don't know SHIT about gaming and is probably a twelve year old who's balls haven't dropped!"

So naturally I went for his maturity.

"Wow, cussing and jokes about my age, great, but I'm fifteen and probably more mature then your stupid fanboy ass."

"Ahahaha! Just talk to my commanding officer *****! Thats right. THE FUCKING ARMY!"

"Dude, your commanding officer would be fucking ASHAMED of you for boasting about being in the army in an argument about videogames."

So I ask of you after this long post, was I right to say this?

No.

If he really is in the army, they have no right to bring their CO into the arguement, especially over Halo. Also, he was very pissed at me. Probably why he brought in the "Army" thing anyway.

I hope he ends up as a P.O.W.
Because he got mad over a game debate?
No, because he's an incompetent human being that doesn't deserve the life he's been given.
Because he got mad over a game debate?
If I met a person in real life who acted like that, I'd sigh, pull out a switch blade, slash the dude's throat, and walk away.
obvious troll.
but if your being serious, your stupid.

Perhaps you dont realize the mass amount of hypocrisy in your arguments?

OP: Maybe not you, kinda seems you didn't say much.
So, the guy got upset you were bashing on one of his favorite games, understandable. Did he over react? Of course. Is that a bad thing? No. Its a stupid argument.

Everyone making character decisions about a guy getting angry at this, well, your retarded. plain and simple.

Again, OP: Not directed at you. But you were wrong in saying this. You dont know his commanding officer. You dont know what its like to be in the army, you don't know how he normally acts, or anything to base your argument on, or anything about the army. Unless of course you are in the army, but i doubt it.

And for the people taking character shots at the man, you dont even know, and its very possible the OP bent the story. If your dumb enough to judge the entire army on the reaction of one soldier, over a XBL argument about his opinion on a VIDEO GAME, you should probably quit the internet, and life because you are harmful to the evolution of man.

dude, i say you were right, but you shouldn't worry about it. you see, with idiots like that in your military, you can let natural selection take its course, and you won't have to worry about his kind anymore.

"I dunno, Bungie isn't known for great stories. Look at almost any other gaming company for that"
I just had to respond to that statement.

http://marathon.bungie.org/story/
They made more than Halo :( Marathon: The game that kept fans solving the mysteries in it's backstory for ten long years.

OT:
Yeah, I don't know. If he was an adult he really sucks balls, best is to ignore those people and not to trollbait them. I met an adult in TF2 who believed everyone was scripting (which is the same as aimbotting in his view) and when i told him to stop complaining i got the 'i'm old and you're not' treatment.

(Though I still like your last line :p)

there are allot of stupid people on earth, and there are allot of people in the army... the correlation isn't to disrespect the army, I know military people who are great people... but obviously that guy was one of the dumb ones. it's good to see that you didn't stoop to his low cranial capacity induced level...

I feel like saying that neither of you two were right. You may have started out fine but you kinda drifted to his level with the argument, even if he seemed to go batshit crazy.

I bent the story by taking some of the more boring things, things that didn't matter to the actual argument but thats about it. I took out a few cusswords from the guy to. But while I understand where you're coming from and agree with you on some points, I also disagree with where I was wrong. He should be honored to be in the army and bringing it up in a conversation about ODST was wrong. Now he may be a good guy and that day just wasn't his day.

you were right, but the fact that you weren't very graceful about it probably added fuel to the fanboy fire
