I neither love nor hate them, I like. How about a bit of middle ground... Also, anything off Bullets is good (mostly).

i think Teenagers is probably the most accessible song to people who are new to them. and it seems like a common theme is people get turned off greatly by their image... they also claim to not like what they sing about, but i really doubt most of the people here complaining about what they sing about have ever actually listened to the majority of the lyrics in their songs.

side note, i never used to listen to them but my girlfriend loves them so i started hearing them more often, and now i actually do enjoy their first album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love.... the 2 newer albums have select songs i like

Nobodies mentioned "you know what they do to guys like us in prison"...
And that song is fantastic, even though, truely befitting of the genre, the title has absolutely no connection to the meaning of the song.
That song is about how awful prison is. It talks about rape and scuicide in the jail.

This band is bad. And you should feel bad for liking it.
Why would you say say something like that?

Really, really dislike them - bordering on hating them, if I'm honest.

I found the music too angsty, too..."teenagerish" and just not nice to listen to. I felt that the band was way, way, way too "up themselves" in the interviews I saw of the members (I originally liked Helena so I gave them a chance) for a brand new band that was't, in my opinion, any good at all.

All their songs that have "deeper meaning" behind them are, for me at least, overshadowed by their earlier work and that they still can't play live - or at all (many amateur bands I psuedo-managed in Nottingham had more potential).

Mind you, there is one thing about the band that I shall never forget, and makes me smile on the rainiest day:

At Kerrang Festival some years ago I was watching them play live. They came on very drunk and were struggling to sing/play. Cue a lot of boo-ing from the crowd (that was rapidly thinning) and the lead singer decided that he was going to trash the set - so he grabbed a guitar and took a swing at the bass drum...and the guitar bounced right off. 7 or 8 swings later he throws the guitar at the drummer and then kicks the kit over (still failing to break the drum skin). I, and many other members of the crowd, were quite literally rolling on the floor laughing.

Plus it's always entertaining to watch the Marylin Manson/Goth crowd attack the MCR/Emo crowd - you see the aerial shots and it's two black clouds of people descending on each other into a huge brawl (that the Slipknott fans dive right into, throwing everything into confusion).

Anyway, I'm digressing - I really don't like the musical style, the fashion sense or genre they represent and pander to (despite claiming they are not emo). I'm not just a metalhead, I like a wide variety of bands and styles (from metal to blues to electronica to hardcore trance/dance), but MCR just wind me up something awful. Maybe I'm too old for them, I dunno - my feelings can be summarised (though not popularly) as "they're just twatts" for all the reasons mentioned previously.

They're a good live band, I saw them twice, once before they got big and once afterwards and both times they were good; although they definitely has a bigger budget second time around, the first time the hall next to them was holding a fishing rod auction.

I love the Song 'To The End' and 'Ghost Of You'. To The End is pretty Catchy and I love the bridge in Ghost of you with its layers.

Did you seriously just say that the My Chemical Romance dude was a BETTER guitarist than Kirk Hammett?

Now I'm sorry that people don't agree with your taste in music but that is just crazy talk.
Plus I can think of 10 guitarists who are easily better:
1.KIRK HAMMETT
2.Eddie Van Halen
3.Jimmy Hendrix
4.Dave Murray
5.Brian May
6.Rodriego and
7.Gabriela
8.Jimmy Page
9.Phil Demmel
10.Slash
[Plus all the guys the person above me came up with.]
...just to point that out.

Also you will grow out of them in about 2 years time. Then look back at their albums and just say... 'huh...'.
I can pretty much agree with everything you just said, but as much as I can't look at My Chemical Romance and go "that's fu*king AMAZING" the same way I can say that about, maybe, Guns 'n' Roses or Joe Satriani, they (to me) are genuinely good. Definitely miles above most of the crap swimming in the mainstream these days.

They're alright. Not one of my favourite bands, but they're still pretty good.

Favorite song - Either Welcome To The Black Parade or I'm Not OK (I Promise).
Favorite album - The Black Parade. It was the first one I listened to, and has remained my favourite.
Favorite band member - Either Mikey or Ray. Gotta love Ray's hair!
Have you ever seen them in concert? - No, but I would like to.
Can you play any of their songs? - I'm Not OK (I Promise) and Famous Last Words.

They were very good on the first album and the second was decent...Problem is the new fans that go on about how "omg sexi" Gerard and Frank are despite the fact that Ray is pretty much the only talented member...

Favourite song: Skylines and Turnstiles/Ghost of You
Favourite Album: I brought you my bullets you brought me your love
Favourite Member: Decent guitarist that can play live...unlike gerard
Seen them in concert: Oui
Can you play any of their songs: I'm not OK, Skylines and Turnstiles and Headfirst for Halos

Great band. Probably the best rock and roll band playing in the main stream of music today. And sure, not a lot of competition there, but still.

Never really get the emo label they're slapped with, Their latest album is straight rock and roll, ala Cheap Trick, Queen, bit o' 70s glam in there too. And fantastic punk rock version of Desolation Row (this coming from a fairly big Bob Dylan fan mind you).

Ehh, I know why they get shit. Young good looking guys who are popular with the teenage crowd, you lose all of your underground street credz for admitting they write catchy songs. I guess I'm just too old to give a shit about my underground street credz (or lack theirof) anymore.

It's just nice seeing some real oldschool rock and roll sensibilities being brought into the radio-world when all we've got is metal and this pop-hardcore junk.

My girlfriend loves them. And Fallout Boy. And Panic! At The Disco.

Too bad I'm a metalhead and I hate every last one of their whiny fucking cookie-cutter songs. I only allow her to put their god-awful albums into my truck's stereo because I love her... and because it's only fair, as I have a feeling she's not too big a fan of all my Testament, Maiden and Slayer albums.

Thats it. I'm making a thred defending emotional people.
Seems rather pointless, No one on the internet really cares about emotional people or their "Problems".

I get some people really do have harder lifes then others but majority of emo kids don't and just like to generate everyday problems into an extreme. I blame the economy.
I mean the immage we have. I want to kill the steryotype that All emos cut themselve, where makeup, dress in all black and whine about how much their life sucks and thats not even what their songs are about.
If you don't want to be associated with all the negative connotations that come with a label, you could just, you know, not fucking label yourself.

Don't like them. Only decent song is "I'm not ok (I promise)" And only because it reminds me of my first year in secondrey before I knew anything about music.
