"As of March 31, according to Nintendo, the Wii has sold 70.93 million units worldwide,[1] selling 20.53 million units within 2009-2010 fiscal year."-Wikipedia
Because something sold a lot it automatically makes it great? The top selling movie of all time is Avatar and before that it was Titanic...neither one of those movies are what I or anyone with half a brain would consider great movies.

And for everyone else with doubts and negatives to say about Kinect. I have a strong feeling that the level of control is there that sets it apart from other motion based game playing. I also feel Microsoft will fully invest the time and effort to bring some great deep games to it. I think it will change opinions once we get to see the other launch titles and some of the titles that didn't quite make it to launch but launch soon after.

Fifth option: "Hell no, and I refuse motion controls in general."

Just look at Kinect's launch line up. It's a joke, full of casual games that will probably be rubbish. The Move is a straight ripoff of the Wii, and the Wii has never appealed to me. So it looks like I'm out of the loop here on motion controls. Or at least not of the target audience, as I take myself seriously.

It's just a shame though that Micro$oft is betting everything on Kinect. If it fails, then they'll launch a new console, and I certainly don't feel like buying a new system so soon after the 360 and PS3.

Even worse are the companies forcing game devs to develop for their motion controller. Just look at Quantic Dream, being forced to abandon Heavy Rain in order to support the Move. It's sad.

NO. Waste of money.
Aren't all video games waste of money? But I bet you have a $150 Rock Band kit collecting dust somewhere in your apartment.
No, because there is a certain amount of entertainment required to keep us from screaming and killing ourselves, and videogames fulfill that. The amount of entertainment present in a game divided by it's cost shows how much value it is.

Kinect, in my opinion, would not give me a positive number, especially when I factor in the cost of a game. And a 360.

Why couldn't there be a "No, motion controls are retarded" option?

Motion controls ruin immersion. The end. No immersion I'm not interested in that game. I don't want to have a work out, I don't want to flail like an idiot and I like sitting when I play games. Kinect is the exact oppostie of improving on gaming, it is actively taking you OUT of the game.
This this this!
This is why I despise the Wii, I have used one on several occasions and it is terrible. I can only imagine the Kinect being worse.
I said before that I was interested in the concept since motion sensing tech is a pretty funky deal but when it comes to gaming you need to abandon yourself as much as possible, not flail like a lunatic.

Microsoft need to invent the neural interface pc soon or I'm gonna be pissed.
You want microsoft to invent a device with the potential to burn out your brain? I'm waiting till the Japanese make on so I don't have to die.

Motion controllers are in their very clumsy infancy, and I don't really think they'll be replacing controllers for a good while.

I think most of the people here will go against kinect. Simply because we are different gamers than most of, what I assume, kinects target audience.
'We' don't get motion controls, because they decrease, or so many of you say, "immersion". If you, however, consider kinect, or motion controls in general, a sort of reach towards the non-gamers, then it makes sense.
Motion-controls are basically an other angle to get one into videogames.

Where's the "fuck no, I hated my Wii and sold the piece of shit, I don't own a PS3 but I want to, and if I did I wouldn't buy Move either anyway" option?

That's what I choose.

The new name sounds like they're trying too hard to appeal to the "cool kids"...

Project Natal sounded like they meant serious business so the name change was a huge disappointment

I'd only buy it if they release Milo, and it will somehow allow you to create your own character instead

All I have to say is you are a brave man for openly coming out and saying you love the Kinect.

Good for you!

OT: No, no no no no no no, and no thanks.

I'm spending the same amount of money on a HDTV so that I can see my story-driven games with more clarity. Money well spent!

Also, the name change shredded any hope of me buying it. Project Natal sounded cool at least. "Kinect - hurhur, deviant spelling, sure I'll buy that, it doesn't sound too intellectually taxing."

Cynical developers.

I don't even need to try it to know that I'll hate it.

Because of one thing: Depth.

I like my games deep. In fact, the deeper the better. And one thing I've noticed about motion controls is, their games are rarely ever deep. The Wii managed a few, but I think that was because it had buttons.

Kinect is a different beast. Unless played in tandem with a 360 controller, there's literally nothing you can do with pure motion controls with todays hardware than minigames.

Sure, minigames are fun, especially at parties, but you can't lose yourself in them. There's no suspension of disbelief, you're still very much aware that you are a person, standing in front of a screen. Same thing happened with Eyetoy, but that was never meant to be anything other than a gimmick.

If you like minigames, I suppose you should get it, but I don't think that a few minutes of fun is worth dropping nearly 130 quid on.

I will try it at some point, but I'm not expecting much.
Nicely wrote and pretty much sums up my feelings. Plus I don't play games to get my heart rate up. If I wanted to I would go outside and run. I play games when I want to sit and relax not get up and move.

And where is the option in the poll for "no" just simply because no. Not because of "i like my ps3 or wii better."?

EDIT: Plus I've seen the Kinect E3 demos on youtube and the over the top acting just shows how much they are trying to push it for causal and younger gamers in my opinion. Not too mention the kinectimals video was rather creepy. Actually all their advertisements for Kinects are creepy because they are so scripted, fake and uncanny.

I just can't see the appeal of getting home after a long day at work and then unwinding by jumping around in front of my TV like epileptic string puppet. Plus the launch titles look like they are designed for a fucking 2 year old. Bright happy colours and creepy faced animals is not my idea of fun. Not for me thanks.
