Thats just bad of you if you fall for that. I mean come on, it's one of those songs everyone knows. And did you just invent a new term? OFF TO URBANDICTIORAY!!!!
I beg to differ.

Everyone does not know that song. I submit myself as the obvious exception to the rule.

(Yes, I may have spawned a new term. Feel free to submit that one for me.)

I think she wasn't actually trying to give you her number, but making a joke that she believed was universally known. This really isn't a matter of being a fan of Tommy Tutone, but being a fan of the 80's in general. I guess you just didn't get the joke. I've never had this happen to me...

Such a great song.

No, I don't ask for numbers but when I get them ,they're real. I guess I'm lucky that way. :)

I had a friend who would always ask for numbers at bars and such. Unfortunately, the fellow had the dual qualities of being physically and mentally bland. He had the charisma of a dead stump, but, bless his soul, he would try!

Once, at a strip joint, he asked for the number of a waitress who had a broken blackberry. He believed her, too!

Even in QC(He didn't speak a lick of french), he made an attempt. Even though the area we were in found english exotic to hear!
Your friend can be commended for his valor. I have no such compulsion within me, for various reasons. Among them, I am an utter failure at selling myself. I have no idea how I would convince another person that they would want to make an investment of time in my company.

*shrug* Alas.

Your friend obviously lacks my inhibitions (which, I would add, is technically a double-negative.)

Perhaps, then, it is best that she and I did not affiliate, for I have little overt love of the 80s, much less Tommy Tutone. It would seem we have different tastes, both in music and in humor.

You should punch her.
in the face, breasts, or ovaries?
In the spleen! That'd show her. See how funny it is while she watches her internal organs fall into the ditch you should leave her in.
Nah! You should punch her in the jeans!

Anyway, no, this has never happened to me. Cal me a nerd but I've never really gotten a girls' phone number in such a way. Also, I know the song (or at least, the [what seems to be a] Blink 182 cover), so I'd know if this prank was being pulled on me.

There once was this girl who gave me her phone number, but when I called all I heard was a voice saying

"You just got the wrong number from someone. They didn't like you and so lied to you with this. Sucks to be you."

Apparently that is a number from some kind of company, and when you call it that will cost you about 4-5$
I am another victim of those damn numbers and recieved a similiar message. The strange thing is the girl approached me with the fake number. I played it off like I didn't even call but I hated that *****. What really pissed me off is that she tried to give it to me again? I mean seriously who approaches you twice and tries to give you the same fake number. WHAT A DUMB *****!

Did ya ever stop to think that maybe, just maybe, that was her way of letting you know she wants to fuck you? That you coulda taken her to the bathroom and banged the crap out of her?
Seriously, don't blame a chick for your own stupidity.

Anyway on topic, no. I never ask for numbers. I do not see the point. Phone calls are awkward so eh. If I wanna bang a chick I am pretty open about it.

Did you ever stop and think that maybe, just maybe, this would be a good way for me to get pinned with a sexual harassment suit and a restraining order?

Never trust numbers given to you. Everyone is out to get you. Everyone wants you dead, and those that don't want you dead anyway. Trust no one. Especially those who appear to be attractive in any form. It's just a trap.

You'll live longer this way.
Or end up with an ulcer.

Little of column A, little of column B.

Where I'm from we have a "rejection hotline." it's a number that tells you to stop hitting on people who clearly aren't interested, the shpeel is quite humiliating XD

Dude just laugh it off. Now that you know about the song it's like d'oh, but it's not like you lost anything by getting tricked. Probably not that easy, but No harm, no foul. or at least not a big foul.

No, I don't plan to play like I don't know what is going on. I don't "play dumb," to make people feel better about themselves. I never asked for her bloody number. If she wanted to give me more time, all she had to do was give me a coy smile and let me walk away with my pocket full of her cute little pictures.
Wow, ok. Well, just so you know, some girls like to play games. Not women, but girls. I don't think it's a matter of being dumb or not, it just is what it is, dude. Or, she was just taking the piss out of you.
