The original My Little Ponies is just inexcusably girly and I'm barely scraping through with my manhood intact while watching Friendship is Magic!

This might stun you, but I like the cartoon for things other than the inclusion of anthropomorphisised magical ponies :p

Didn't like the MLP franchise before, no, and to be fair I wouldn't buy any of the old merchandise etc. even having watched it. But FiM is still brilliant.

The show (And products) I just saw as a cheap way to sell horses to little girls and me being macho as I am (Says the guy with a cute, fluffy animal as an icon) I dismissed it as "I couldn't give a crap" until the FiM thing started to pop up onto the internet, so I wanted to know what all the commotion was about so one night, I decided to grab a beer and see if I can bare all 26(?) episodes of FiM and well... Lets just say I didn't touch the beer. I still have no interest to look beyond and/or before because its still seen as me as just crap.

Tl;Dr or don't get what I'm on about: FiM is awesome, anything else to me is crap.

Like many here, I never gave a damn about My Little Pony by any means until I started watching Friendship is Magic. I had never been truly exposed to the previous shows and direct-to-video features, but of course I never thought much of them for obvious reasons.

After I got into Friendship is Magic, though, I did spend about three days venturing into the past of MLP just to see what the franchise was like before it became awesome. Although many fellow Bronies themselves might consider me insane for saying this, I actually liked the original 1980's G1 cartoon. Yeah it was corny as all hell, not as good as Friendship is Magic by any means, and there was a human Mary Sue character named Megan who could fall into a vat of pure hydrochloric acid and die for all I care, but I had a lot of fun watching it for reasons even I am unsure of.

That being said, the second show ("My Little Pony Tales") was a pile of boring, mediocre, and stereotypical nonsense that truly had no reason to exist. And then the G3 direct-to-video stuff... I'll just say I felt utterly violated after I finished an episode from that era and leave it at that.

The only My Little pony show is FiM and if you try to correct me you are wrong and should be punched.

I really have to check this show out, if only to see what all the fuss is about.

These poll results are pretty restrictive - what about "I watched it a bit when I was a toddler and then promptly forgot about it". It can't be that uncommon an answer.

I personally never heard of MLP before FiM, though I think I remember seeing some pony figures in some toy shops before G4. Now if I ever see a Pinkie Pie in some shop, I think I'll buy it, 'cause she is awesome! (hopping when other are charging a manticore XD)
