At the risk of being labelled an attention whore, I would like to direct people to my tumblr page where I have written a rather lengthy article about the my little pony craze. Its at least four pages long and I'm still not happy with it, but if you take the time to read it through you might get a better grasp on the situation rather than just dismissing it offhand like a lazy judgmental butthole.

I couldn't stop watching... I don't know why... other than the fantastic animation... there wasn't anything that stood out as amazing... but... I couldn't stop... I'd check it out... I don't know why and I don't care why, I likes it... (although I've only seen the pilot)

OT: I wouldn't know, I've never watched the show despite the explosion of popularity. I don't really have any interest in doing so, either.
I wish I could just point you in the direction of one episode and say "that's the best one, go watch it and then you'll know whether you'll ever like it or not". But now I'm just caught between Dragonshy, Bridle Gossip, Sonic Rainboom and Over a Barrel. I don't really want to tell you to just watch all of them and waste two hours to decide you're not going to like it.Bags159 said:

Ignore the concept, I'm sure you can name a movie that has a amazing concept that sucked and a movie with a crappy concepts that was good.
The quality of anything form of media has almost everything to do with the people behind it, the producer, the director, the voice actors, the animators and the writers and to my knowledge all the people behind My Little Pony love and respect children's programing. Its brilliantly written, the voice actors are top notch and the animation is great. Sure there is a slight sense of Irony but this show was written for Little Girls and Adults as stated by Lauren Faust, this show doesn't insult little girls like the other stuff made for them. The Fashion addict treats it as an art form and isn't obsessed with shopping, the shy sensitive one can be strong when the time arises, and I won't bother you with the details of all the other characters.

Shit-tier: All of the other series', spinoffs, direct to video release, movies, etc.
It kind of reminds me of Transformers and how they too only had one good show (Beast Wars) while everything else media-related to the franchise was Godawful.
