I enjoy the show greatly. I can't explain why.
No, but I can. Observe:

That's some quality writing right there.
This part was actually really good and funny, it even has a reference to a song that may be about drugs lol.

After watching the first episode I dont have anything to complaint, the animation is good, the jokes arent cheesy and the characters are varied. Although it still isnt something that I want to watch daily.

I will probably give another try since I know that pilot episodes arent the same as the rest of the show, now that the main characters are there the jokes will start to come.

Overral, it can be recomended to people and it isnt about irony.

Pilot episode isn't really the normal format, no. Try episode 6 or 16, although I will say there is a SLIGHT order to the episodes (like a character is met in one episode that acts like an old acquantance in another).

Okay, since I posted in this thread, I have watched the first episode.

I'll admit, for the first 5 minutes or so, I was thinking, "I feel alittle gay for watching this", but after I got over that hump... I like it. Not LOVE, but it was certainly enjoyable.

Its... its... SOOOOO freaking cute :3. I felt like every other minute just made me go, "Daaaawwwww".

One thing I like is the fact that they kept the baby dragon from the original series. See, me and my sister have this little joke about him, we call him "Failmander", because he looks like a pokemon reject, and he's completely useless in the original series.

I now have to show this to my sister, I'm almost certain she'll love it.

I am an 18 year old male who likes "manly" things like cars, guns, and Die Hard, etc. etc., and I fucking love the new My Little Pony cartoon.

Why would I admit such a thing? Well, because the cartoon is actually good. It has good writing and humor, characters that are actually enjoyable to watch, and it isn't just a festering pile of girly fluff that panders only to the stereotypes society imposes on young girls. Hell, I've noticed that many of those stereotypes are even looked down upon in the show or at least exaggerated for comical effect rather than encouraged.
Granted, it's not all a glimmering pile of excellence (episode 7: "Look Before You Sleep" is rather mediocre, I will admit), but it's the only example I can think of of a cartoon marketed to little girls that is actually enjoyable for older girls/boys/women/men to watch as well.

Plus, one of the characters can cause others to spontaneously grow a mustache. What's not to like about that?

Imagine pure happiness being fed into your bloodstream through a filter of Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (both worked on thoroughly by MLP:FiM's creator, Lauren Faust).

Now imagine a better version of that.

That, my friend, sums up My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

I watched the first episode on youtube, but to be completely honest I just couldn't get into it. Yeah, the animation is solid, the voice work is good and believe it or not it actually has plot! But it just doesn't appeal to me.

That being said, the HUB does have some pretty awesome shows out right now. I was really surprised.

My 4 yr. old daughter loves it.
I appreciate that they slip some humor for us adults in now and again. And the messages are generally good.

And it beats the ever-living snot out of Caillou. ;-)

I believe that this quote that a friend of mine says pretty much sums it up:
"I am a 27 year-old male marine responsible for 7 confirmed kills in Iraq before being shipped back at the end of my tour. I now work as a commercial sailor, and Fluttershy is my favorite."
Incidentally that is why we are good friends. I love Fluttershy so much.

I've only seen the first episode, which oddly enough I watched mere minutes before this thread was created, and I'm not particularly impressed.

It wasn't good, but it wasn't particularly bad either. I cracked a smile a few times for reasons other than noting the irony of having just played some Mortal Kombat, but that's it.

Maybe it gets better. I don't know.

It's definitely a quality cartoon. As far as what kids these days are watching, it's way better than what's out there. I enjoy it quite a bit and watch the new episodes as soon as they're posted to Youtube (unless I have DnD that night. It's not like I'm some obsessive nerd. =P)
The characters are really well developed and pretty much cover every niche. The episodes range from hilarious, intelligent and well-written to average and mediocre.
Lauren Faust, the creator of the cartoon, has been really cool about it, too. She interacts with the Brony community, and from what I understand, she's totally cool with people watching episodes on Youtube.

its very good, it wouldn't be pulling in as many male fans as it dose if it sucked. i think its great there's a show a lot of people can get into, might not have been the intent, but hey, it works

"For the lulz." That's how they get you. That's why I started watching it and before I knew it, I couldn't stop.

My 21 year old brother watched it because he was so into it. I watched first two episodes but am still not into it yet.

She can be pretty assertive.

And man, look at that. They use like 5 different shades of Teal just for that one section of her iris.

I really don't get what all the hullabaloo is about. I really didn't find it funny at all.
