Poll: My major disapointment with G4 (Formally known as G4/Tech TV)

X-Play declared Fable 2 as Game of the Year. Over Grand Theft Auto 4, Lost Odyssey, Metal Gear Solid 4, Left 4 Dead, and Fallout 3. I wish I was kidding.

They should just change the entire station to the Japanese shows from Duty Free and Unbeatable Banzuke. Then I'd watch.

I still like G4, but every time I go to the channel they have cops on. I thinks its not so much a problem with the quality if the shows, but that it looks like 60-70% of the shows on G4 aren't game or tech related anymore.

I gave up on G4 so long ago... it seems like such a distant memory of me as a wee tyke running in from school to catch my daily episode of X-Play. I remember first hearing about Ralph Baer on Icons. Actually, I remember getting all of my gaming knowledge from that channel. It was on time, a constant stream of useful information that I needed to get. I loved Judgement Day! It was like a supercharged version of X-Play, with a few game reviews, a few interviews, the occasional short skit. Robot Wars was amazing, and Cinemetech, though weird, was still worth a watch. But all good things must come to an end. This is a prime example of American culture, the corruption of a once great station that now looms tall only in our memories. I suggest a moment of silence for G4, may God help you.

I think the whole thing went down the drain when G4 bought out TechTV. Let me make this clear: I hate what G4 was and I certainly hate what it is. TechTV was awesome. It was fantastic. It was the coolest channel on television. Then G4 came.

I know that a lot of people like the old G4 shows like the old version of Cheat!, Electric Playground, Cinematech, Judgement Day, and so forth, but I hated those shows. I didn't like the hosts, like the punch-pulling Victor Lucas, the tries-too-damn-hard Corey Rouse, and Tommy Tallarico (who gives Ninja Gaiden a 7.5 out of 10?!), though he redeemed himself somewhat by working on The Bard's Tale.

Nearly everything on TechTV was at least good and at most awesome. Fresh Gear, Screen Savers, Gamespot TV/Extended Play/X-Play (back when Adam and the show still had integrity), Unscrewed with Martin Sargent (how I miss that show), and Eye Drops had some nifty stuff now and again. TechTV was the real tech geek/gamer channel.

G4 was a bunch gaming shows that I found to suck, but at least they were still gaming shows. Now, it is to games what Margaret Cho is to humor: it is its antithesis.

The only thing I still watch on G4 is X-Play which is still OK...

Eh, I remember loving X-play....I havn't watched it in a long time. Around the moment they pulled the punches on some of their jokes. They used to be the Slighty Cleaner Zero Punctuation, which is more than fine for a television show. Plus if you think about it X-play I bet is what brought most people to G4, it WAS quality television for anyone above the age of 11.
I just think they need to be brutal in the reviews, bring back more sarcasm and jokes and im in.

Oh yah! And they need to STFU about Fable 2 those G4 B******s, I saw the special on it, it looked fun. Play it/borrowed it from a friend, I find the game D*** near unplayable. ZP review hits the point...You get no benefit from doing any of this stuff. The good and evil aspect is flawed.

Ex: I buy all the vendors in the main city, Browershire is it? I raise the rent 50%, how does that me EVIL I came back to the console few days later with horns. How does inflating the price make me evil that fast, if inflating was a sin the gas executives would have Full horns Satan would be envious with.

But I digress how can they have such a flawed game, and they give it Game of the Year. For Gods sake MGS or L4D or Fallout 3 the most deserves the title.

However this only proves that they are no longer the source of gaming, maybe 1-2 years ago, but not now.
