Windwaker is better.
QFT, to the max.

Though I didn't get to play OoT when it came out, I played it on the NGC after I finished Wind Waker twice, and couldn't get into it.

I haven't played it, but of all the Zelda games I've played Majora's Mask is the best.
Phantom Hourglass is a close second though.

N64 Zelda ocarina of time is in my opinion the best Zelda game ever made. What do you think?
It's the one that left the biggest impression on me, but best?

No, that's an impossible statement to justify. For one thing best is entirely subjective, from an objective view Twilight Princess and Windwaker are both better (better graphics, sound, frame rate etc) but they also hit four plus years later and neither of those has any bearing on how much fun you had.

Ultimately the best is the one you enjoyed the most. For many that'll be the old 2-D ones and for me it's Twilight Princess or OoT because they were so filled with "omg!" moments.

Link to the Past was better IMO.

OoT is way up there on the list though, #2 of Zelda games, and around #5 on best games ever.
Link to the Past will always get my vote for best zelda game.

Link to the Past for sure, and Four Swords was an under-appreciated game. I like sprite link, Best 3d one for Me is Majora's Mask. Ocarina of time was good, but not amazing (though I guess at the time I can see why it would have been) Wind waker was garbage, didn't play twilight princess, I heard it was good but it just seemed to lack the magic a zelda game should have.

I give my vote to Ocarina of Time with Twilight Princess in second place. I hated Majora's Mask for some reason.

But Ocarina had the Water Temple... that was awesome!
But it also had the most stupid and most annoying boss ever.

Link to the Past is probably the best, followed closely by Link's Awakening for the Game Boy. OoT was good, but far too easy to really give a good challenge, unless you made it hard on yourself. Majora's Mask definitely had the most fun and original plot line, though.

Amorphous blob of water or Dark Link? Because the blob was piss easy compared to some of the bosses... stand in a corner and fire your hookshot! Dark Link was challenging unless you used the Biggeron's sword.

I found Bongo Bongo the most annoying boss, HATED it. It was very tough to lock onto the hands or dodge its attacks due to the cyclical nature of its movement. And timing the arrow to the eye took some trial and error which is never fun...

Majora's Mask = Best 3D Zelda Ever
Statements like this annoy me... Mostly because I hated that game due to some phenomenally bad gameplay design (no, not the 3 day cycle, I loved that) but more because you're stating that as a fact whereas it is just an opinion.

But anyway, I've said this before in a previous and much better thread that OoT is my favourite and Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are great too but don't quite compare. I think it was because of the 7 year skip thing, when I first played the game I spoiled that part for myself but it was such a good gameplay element that I was surprised and pleased anyway. It had the perfect difficulty level too.

(My I'm snarky today... It must be my headache and tiredness that's doing it...)

Yep that was my thread, I personally felt that A Link to the Past was the best Zelda game though I did love Ocarina despite it's little niggly flaws.

Wind Waker would have been by far my favorite were it not for the endless sailing segments. The control and gameplay felt a lot tighter and more refined than in Ocarina.

But Ocarina had the Water Temple... that was awesome!
Yeah, the sailing really broke up the action - for me, though, I thought the dungeons were very clever and they had a couple of neat items like the deku leaf and the grappling hook that kept the game seperate from other iterations of Zelda. Plus, I loved the cell-shaded look. I mean, really. Looking back on it now, it's still one of the nicest looking games on any system from that generation. Everything looks really polished and it all has a distinctive charm that still looks good today.

Didn't meant for that to go on as long... Wait a minute... Are you serious?! You loved the Water Temple?! The wrong-save-gotta-start-entire-game-again Water Temple?!

I personally think majora's mask was the best zelda ever. Excluding the extremely annoying time thing, this one was by far the most in depth, and challenging (yes, a challenging zelda game..) and fun zelda i ever played.
i couldn't have said it better

I get to be special, I choose Link's Awakening as the best Zelda ever! It had the best atmosphere in a Zelda game yet. I didn't really think OoT was all that special, although mostly every Zelda game is great.

Or wait, scratch that. How 'bout 'Zelda Faces of Evil'?

IMHO: LoZ:OoT is the best game ever made.

Closely followed by Aquaria by bitblot...

As for zelda games, MM is my second fave (ONI MASK FTW), then four swords (the one that came with the GBA release of ALttP) because throwing jars on you friends heads is hilarious.
