Yep that was my thread, I personally felt that A Link to the Past was the best Zelda game though I did love Ocarina despite it's little niggly flaws.

Wind Waker would have been by far my favorite were it not for the endless sailing segments. The control and gameplay felt a lot tighter and more refined than in Ocarina.

But Ocarina had the Water Temple... that was awesome!
Yeah, the sailing really broke up the action - for me, though, I thought the dungeons were very clever and they had a couple of neat items like the deku leaf and the grappling hook that kept the game seperate from other iterations of Zelda. Plus, I loved the cell-shaded look. I mean, really. Looking back on it now, it's still one of the nicest looking games on any system from that generation. Everything looks really polished and it all has a distinctive charm that still looks good today.

Didn't meant for that to go on as long... Wait a minute... Are you serious?! You loved the Water Temple?! The wrong-save-gotta-start-entire-game-again Water Temple?!
Yeah, I loved it! Finished it in 2 hours with no guide or help, it really isn't that hard if you explore everywhere and memorise where things are. The only bit I found annoying was the swimming past the whirlpools.

I found Jabu Jabu's belly and the Shadow Temple much more frustrating.

As for Wind Waker, I think that the game's graphics still look fresh and impressive today. The environmental effects in the lava pit and forest are just gorgeous and each dungeon had its own unique look and feel.

Such a shame you had to spend half the game looking at the same blue, white and red screen and not pressing any buttons for ten minutes.

Am i the only one who thinks Twilight Princess is the best?

Don't get me wrong, OoT is really, really, REALLY good, but Twilight Princess manages to perfect the formula.

For one, OoT's story was basically non-existent. The only plot element was when you traveled through time.

The dungeons in TP were also more varied, with the Goron caves not revolving enterily around fire anymore, the Water temple's system of water levels was actually based on the system involved with rising and lowering waterlevels etc.
Bosses were incredibly, and differed from the bosses with obvious weak spots, with Firus, the boss from the Goron dungeon, standing out the most.

Music(and graphics, obviously), has made a huge step up.
Characters also seemd more developed, and especially the Twilight Realm was presented as a dark and oppresive world.

Items were a bit more varied, also.
The mini-games and secret dungeons were brilliant, though somewhat to concealed, making looking for them a bit too tedious.

I give my vote to Ocarina of Time with Twilight Princess in second place. I hated Majora's Mask for some reason.

But it also had the most stupid and most annoying boss ever.
Amorphous blob of water or Dark Link? Because the blob was piss easy compared to some of the bosses... stand in a corner and fire your hookshot! Dark Link was challenging unless you used the Biggeron's sword.

I found Bongo Bongo the most annoying boss, HATED it. It was very tough to lock onto the hands or dodge its attacks due to the cyclical nature of its movement. And timing the arrow to the eye took some trial and error which is never fun...
I was talking about the blob of water. They just could have worked on that boss a little better. I know what you mean about Bongo Bongo but it wasn't that bad. :p

I like to top-down view Zelda's much better than the current ones. Topping my list would be A Link to the Past. I wish they would release a new one in that style.

My personal favorite is Majora's Mask. I'm wierd.

So... yes. The N64 one is my favorite, since Majora's Mask did come out on the 64.

I'm probably going to be ostracized, but... Personally I thought Link's Awakening was the best Zelda title. Characters were interesting and acted human, and unlike most Zelda titles, seemed genuinely grateful when Link did their meaningless tasks for them, and if they had something belonging to the adventurer, they ponyed it up rather than dangle it over his head.

Granted, in the end it all turning out to be a
dream sequence
turns out to be a bit cliche', and kinda takes a lot of the character development and throws it out the window, except for the fact that apparently only the people of Koholint Island seem to be nice to Link, rather than the population of Hyrule whom seem to take him for granted, it's a good bit of character development for Link himself, a person who just wants to be accepted and appreciated for his bits of daring do, rather than being Zelda's bitchboy.

I liked Majoras Mask better out of the N64 Zeldas. I found the story a lot more engaging and deep, the gameplay was still fun and the whole time things doesn't bother me. I just found everything In Majoras Mask overall better than Ocarina of Time.

I'm currently playing through Majora's Mask for the first time and really enjoying it. I'm not sure if it's better than OoT, though. I'll have to replay it first to compare.

As for my favorite, I did love A Link to the Past, but I'm kind of an audio whore, which makes me want to side with OoT.

As someone who missed out on the N64 era of Nintendo (I was a Playstation guy), but grew up on the NES, gameboy, and SNES versions, I think Twilight is the best.

I got a Gamecube disc with OOT and MM on it, and I'm playing my way through OOT now. Having already played TP, I can't shake the feeling that I've been here before, and it was more enjoyable the first time.

That being said, LTTP is pretty freakin' sweet, too.

In absolute terms, Probably not - in relative to the time of release terms... maybe

Sometimes the shortest posts articulate more than every other post on the thread. Agreed 100%
