It's not more natrual disasters today then it's been before, but I think that maybe we belive that there are, since we hear about everything that happen today, thanks to mass media.

No, I am quite convinced that 2012 be be as big of an anticlimax as 2000 was.

There were no natural disasters before, clearly this means that the end times are coming!!!

Everybody run to your meteor-safe shelters, do not emerge until three years after the 21th of december 2012!!!

[sub]Or perhaps natural disasters are just that and have nothing to do with the end of the world, I dunno...[/sub]

I have no idea, I'm just sick of all my friends on Facebook updating with "2012 is going to happen" or similar... DUH! All you're saying is the world won't end in 2011.

I've never given a thought to the whole thing, I mean what? An ancient Mayan calendar ends at 2012? Maybe his freakin' hand got tired, maybe he got eaten by a bear!

(Jokes aside now) I've pretty much ignored this whole thing from the beginning, I'm not even remotely interested, who cares either way, I plan to continue life as normal.

Apocolypse doesn't even mean the end of the world. The word was hijacked by movies and such to pretend it did. Anyway, if it was the end of the world I'd expect some more crazy disasters. Like Manhatan sinking into the sea or a volcano appearing in Paris.

I just joke about the desasters being the "foreplay" of our total destruction in 2012, but I think that it's just a coincidence.

Although, I'd like to experience the end of the world, to be honest, but only when I'm much older.

Not sure. Prolly won't be sure until weird lambs start ripping seals off ancient parchment...or mattress tags.

Stocking up will not save you from Cthulhu. Accept your doom...
OT: I don't think anyone actually believes this 2012 bullcrap. Why should they? If the Mayans really did know that the world would end in 2012, there would be more evidence, such as paintings and such of the event.

A natural disaster is just that; a natural disaster.

There's no one up there fucking about with us because 2012 is getting near. It's just, very sadly, been an extremely shitty year so far for some countries.

I'm pretty sure it's all just random occurrences from the forces of nature. The world will end when it ends but I doubt it will be in 2012.

On a semi-related note, does anyone else think 2012 is going to suck as a year? We're going to have to put up with waiting for the "event" until mid-December. Even if the world doesn't end we're going to have to listen to it FOREVER. o.o

I would think if the world were going to end in 2012, it would just end. cease to exist rather than going all natural disaster on us

But anyway of course the world is not going to end, and if it did there's no point preparing for it cause youll be dead. but i do think life in the pacific is going to get very uncomfortable

So I was thinking, Are all these natural disasters a lead-up to the climatic 2012 end of the world or are they just a series of tragic events with no relation?

If it is the end of the world, how do you think it will go down. Like the movie 2012 or something more like aliens or zombies?
Why should I say anything when one of history's greatest speakers can do it for me:

Well it doesn't necessarily matter anymore if a natural disaster does or doesn't happen in 2012. The effect of everyone who believes something will actually happen on the day that will kill them and thus the day before start doing everything/something they would want to do before they die which could either be legal or illegal may fuck up the earth for the next few years.

Humans. We're a fickle old bunch and will kicking ourselves in the crotch till we learn we're doing life wrong.

or

WE'RE DOING IT WRONGZ!

The only reason people believe in 2012 (mostly americans tbh) is because the mayan calender ending in 2012 was discovered on the american continent. other ancient civiliastions have actually predicted the world ending (the mayan calender just ended then) and that hasnt happened. Hell even Christianity thought for a while the world would end in 5th century

I've quit my job under the hope my savings can last me until the 2012 apocalypse.

If I'm wrong, I'll be homeless. I feel this is a perfectly sane risk to take given the events of late.

I suspect it'll go down like it has in the past...the earth is constantly changing and so we will likely be mostly wiped out as we enter another ice age for millions of years. Not a pretty way to go though.

Don't forget that all of the Jehovah's Witnesses died out in the 1960's during the Rapture.

Dude, you should update your facebook profile and say that too, then say that 2013 is also going to happen along with 2014 and more after that. Of course 2012 is going to happen, it's in 9 months, I'd be more concerned if it didn't.

IKf the wou\rld was going to end on 2012 I don't think this would be a proper sign that should give us all the the right to freak out. Japan has had earthquakes before, and the fact that we use the word tsunami which is Japanese it isn't the first time they've had to struggle with it. Serioulsy, from what I understood from what they said on the TV this was the 5th strongest eartquake they had ever had, but then again the strongest in 150 years (I am not going to say either is correct). There has been more earthquakes, and there has been more tsunamis, even before 2012 becmae cool.

Anyway, if I'm wrong, noone's gonna get the chance to say that to me! Hah!

Really? More of this crap?

Look, this earthquake was bad. At least a thousand are dead. Hurrican Katrina was bad, three thousand dead there.

But much, much worse stuff has happened in history. Japan alone has had dozens of deadlier quakes, a few of them killing more than a hundred thousand each. China had a quake kill 800,000, but why is no one marking down the late 1500's as the end of the world? The black plague killed something like one quarter of humanity, why isn't that a sign of the end?

Yes, this is a terrible tragedy to those it happened to, but we can also be thankful that tens of thousands didn't die, as has happened even with much less powerful quakes.

As soon as I heard about the Tsunami and the death tolls the first thing I thought about was how sad it is that some people would inevitably ignore the loss of human life and use it as some kind of sick proof that the entire 2012 thing is true.

It was a random, tragic event.
