(just a quick foreword, this is my first thread at the Escapist, after lurking for over 3 years :O)

Right, let's start off with December 2009. I had just gotten back from my journey to South America and attended a meeting/conference hosted by a new volunteer organization that I'll from here on call FF. After presenting myself and my interests, the next person says "My name is Celine, and I like to do just about the same things as Bob" (of course, her real name isn't Celine, and my real name isn't Bob, but I'll just use that here for the sake of a slight anonymity). I look at the girl and notice that god damn she looks really nice, I'd say a 9 on the scale. The meeting continues and I go home, remembering her name in my head. After finding her on Facebook, I look at her profile picture once and continue on with life. (I didn't add her or anything)

Late February 2010: After getting shitfaced drunk I make out with a girl that I barely know (I'll call her Juno), the next weekend it gets worse (actually better, if ya know what I mean ;). However, it turns out she has a boyfriend, and the next 3 months it goes from an affair to a casual relationship after they break up. For a while things seem to turn stable in our "relationship", however her ex has in the meanwhile gathered enough shit about me from the internet and launches an attack that starts to break things up between us.

June 2010: About a week or so after the breakup with Juno, I drink away my sorrows at a beer-tasting event with FF. Across the room I hear my sister (3 years older) saying "Oh, and that guy over there is my brother, cool person" to some girls, I turn around and do a "O hai there gurls O_< *wink*" and notice Celine again, who I've almost forgotten due to those hectic past months with Juno and all. I spend the rest of the evening drinking more beer and talking to Celine's friends. At home again, I add Celine's friends on Facebook in addition to her. I don't care much about them as they all turn out to be occupied, except for Celine. It turns out she's 2 years older than me, single, likes Star Wars and has acceptable music taste.

Later that month, it's BBQ time with FF and I'm at the supermarket with some friends looking for meat to grill. I just want some simple hot dogs while the others are into fancy meat, and there is Celine again, she just happens to want something simple as well. So we team up to buy a big pack of some simple and cheap hot dogs for the BBQ. The BBQ is a success and we have an ok evening with beer and other drinks. Out of nowhere it turns out she likes Left 4 Dead (and L4D2). It stopped there though, because I had to catch the last bus home along with my other friends.

A few weeks later I start chatting with Celine on Facebook, not only does she like Left 4 Dead, but she's also an avid fan of Need for Speed, and of course liked the Hot Pursuit series best. Actually, the upcoming Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit game is coming out on her birthday. We talk some more and I get to know her a bit more (she really likes FPS games), also she's going to study maths and physics at the same place I'm going to once September comes.

The summer vacation goes by, I'm busy working things with FF, and Celine is working at her job. However every now and then there's some event with FF, be it beer-drinking, games or volunteer work. Celine turns out to be a great team-player with me, so we get things done, be it the beer drinking or winning in games. Lots of high-fives. August ends, and I start on my studies. Celine and I don't have any classes together, but we meet every now and then in the cantina to practice maths and physics. I'd say we've gotten be quite ok friends.

A few weeks ago, I went on a mission with FF (but without Celine) to a foreign country along with some other organizations. (actually, the whole operation had to be kept secret at that time, due to the sitation with the secret police). The last day ends up with all of us getting drunk on the flight home, it starts at 3pm and continues once we're back home in our own country. I end up following 2 girls home and partying out at their apartment, later that night I end up having sex with one of them, let's call her Sarah. The next morning I leave early, because I have important things to do.

That weekend I end up meeting Sarah by pure coincidence twice. She adds me on facebook, starts chatting with me. She even has my number and regularly texts me asking whats up and stuff. Last Monday I gave in and went to a concert with her and also met some of her friends. In the meanwhile, things seem to have sort of reached a dead end with Celine, she's getting busy with her studies and has found new friends at school to help her out. I haven't told her about Sarah yet.

Time to sum up some things.

Celine:
+ Likes L4D, Need for Speed + other games
+ Likes Star Wars
+ Has many interests in common, especially involvement in FF
+ Likes beer, and more advanced beer. Also likes eating food
+ Is seriously hot (and sporty), looking at her, you wouldn't guess she had any nerdy interests at all
- Is 2 years older than me (this isn't really a problem for me, but I don't know how she feels about a younger boy)
- Hasn't shown much interest in anything beyond being friends
- If i screw things up, things are going to be awkward in FF

Sarah:
+ Is showing quite some interest in me
+ Same age as me (1 week younger)
+ Likes ZELDA :D
+ Not involved in FF, if things screw up, I can just ditch her and continue on life in FF as normal
- Doesn't have the looks of Celine, more like a 6 or perhaps 7 on the scale
- Smoker
- I don't want to get involved in her organization
- Don't know her that much or as long as Celine

So it all comes down to, who should I try to focus on? I really like Celine, but I haven't seen much progress with her lately. Whereas Sarah has shown a lot more interest in such short time. Or is there anything I can do to get Celine's attention? Also, the situation with Sarah is starting to remind me of how it started with Juno, I didn't like or know her much at the start, but turned out to be an ok person over time.

Damn this was perhaps a bit too long ^^

That's my biggest turn off, I would go for the first one you've known her longer anyway...

Perhaps you should stop drawing up lists comparing two people like it's a choice between two different brand products and just go with whoever feels right.
Yeah, I was going to say that.....

But seriiously, they're not objects. They're people. Stop comparing them as if it's a choice between two games you're trying to buy.

That too because I can't stand smokers. Not that I have anything against them it's just that it's a turn off for me.

tough one, I say Celine. But this FF thing sounds shady(i dont know if its just the bit about secret police and the part about "i don't want to get invovled in her organization" maybe its just my TV fueled mind i dunno)

About the comparing list thing:
It was mainly intended for you guys, and for those that tl;dr, since summing up the whole thing would take even more pages and walls of text.
The poll shouldn't perhaps be there, since I'm more into advice as to what I should do to get Celine's attention.

I wouldnt go for neither of them, to me it seems like you and Celline are quite good friends... and I wouldnt want to ruin that by going into a relationship. Also, being in a relationship with someone who's exactly like you may seem fun for the first month or so... but you'll eventually get bored by the fact that you have all the same interests.

As for Sarah, from what you've told me it doesnt seem like you're bonding at all.
And for me, the fact that she's a smoker is a huge turnoff.
To me it seems like you "might" take Sarah just because you cant be arsed looking further (See 'Reacher' and 'Setteler'.)

Celine, obviously. She sounds like a pure dream come true, sarah sounds (not to sound cruel) a little too easy. Girls like that are usually not the best dating material in my profession.

Yeah, but the problem people are having is that you wrote out an impersonal pros/cons list in order to decide who you will date, which gives the impression that you're not really dating so much as choosing which person you'll have around.

And there's also the fact that the entire poll seems to be about whether or not you should stop dating someone just because things are slow, which seems a bit of an asshole thing to do, especially since it implies you'd be moving onto another girl immediately.

Honestly, I'm in no position to help you choose between two people you like more based off of what little I know from text on the internet.

Neither. Just accept a friendship and don't push a relationship. If you're down to listing the pros and cons of each girl you're vaguely interested in, it's obviously not the time for a relationship for you, my friend.

So yes, just stay friends with both of them. Unless you're one of those fucktarded "this is all a masquerade to eventually get you in my pants" types, in which become friends with neither and sorrow in your emotionless misery.

Hope that helps ;)

Never ceases to amaze the number of people asking for advice on girls on web forums. Why settle for just one anyway? Screw them both if you can.

Just go for friendships. Friendships last for a good long time but relationships last until you get sick of the girl then neither of you talk to each other ever again...

This is not as complex as it appears.

1. You have a huge crush on your friend Celine, but have failed to act on it.
2. Maybe it's because your standard method for acquiring girlfriends involves getting drunk and horny.
3. Sarah is totally into you, but you see her as "settling."

Leading to these prescriptions:
4. Ask Celine out. Be prepared to take "No" for an answer and remain friends.
5. Spend some more time with Sarah and get to know her as a person. Reading between the lines, it seems like she might be much cooler than you give her credit.
