All games with checkpoints are actually stories being told by the prince of Persia from Sands of Time. Every time you die, he just got the story wrong and needs to back up a bit.

In old-school platformers, the characters aren't really on a serious quest. They're just running an obstacle course in preparation for it. That's why they jump off the edge of the screen every time they "die". Their lives are simply the number of times they're willing to try again before they give up and succumb to alcoholism.

As soon as this idea popped into my head, I found I was able to make nice with MW2/3. It just makes me feel good to think about the games this way.

Also--this is the main reason I replied--I have to say that I love your avatar.
Why thank you! However, I must confess, tis not my own invention. It's actually one of the preset avatars that the site lets you pick from.

I didn't even know that there were preset avatars. Huh, how bout that?

Regardless, Strider/Aragorn, as he is portrayed in the Jackson films, is one of my favorite fictional characters across all media. The Aragorn of the book is still great, but is less humanly flawed and therefore less interesting.
