90% of the people here don't even know HOW to use either weapon in a real fight. Believe me, if you meet with professionals, what you bring won't matter. Using a gun isn't all about pointing and pulling the trigger. Recoil is a big issue in real life, especially with guns that shoot fast. And a newbie handling a knife is more likely to cut himself than his target.
So what can you learn from this? Run.
Frankly, though, a knife will stand more of a chance in close-combat if the other guy has ran out of bullets. Still, basic martial arts training can teach you how to disarm, so it isn't a guarantee.
