Some of the best things happen when you're asleep...

With sleep, when the zombies attack, no one will need know about how they are being eaten to death.

I already have too much free time as it is. I don't want to give up one of favorite activities, just so I could have more free time.

Oh stop trying to be profound. We forget most of our dreams anyway.

I think you mean dream as in imagine. Which we do when we're awake, too.

In conclusion, I'm in a bad mood.

People, keep in mind the fact that with that drug, you still can sleep, but you don't have to sleep.

I would definitely do it.

Definitely. Being able to function at top capacity 24/7 would be a godsend occasionally. Though it'd be a lot better if only a select few had it. If everyone took the pill, society would become even more of a hell if it was always working.

Also, I have a strange fear of dying in my sleep. It's not like that guy that said he wants to make a contribution before he dies, I just have a fear that someone, something, or a disease/heartattack/etc. will kill me in my sleep. Therefore, I'd lose that fear :D
So you'd rather experience the pain of a heart attack (Which knocks you out anyway, meaning you may technically die in your sleep.), deadly disease that works in a 5 hour timespan, knife or gun, or perhaps a plank of wood cutting you in two in a hurricane awake?.

Kinky.

Anyway, I wouldn't take it. At this age I need to sleep or my growth will be stunted.

I get bored quickly enough in the time I'm awake as it is, so unless I could structure my time a bit more to make sure I had something to do non-stop, I wouldn't be interested.

That, and I just like sleeping.

Do any people here even have tried to obtain the ability to read previous posts?

And what is so good about sleeping, I seriously don't get it.
The time you could blaze through Fallout 3's story mode, you just, go to bed, think about something (what you can do by just sitting, laying etc) and then you fall to sleep, seeing some dreams, of which 99.99% you forget.
You probably don't even remember what you saw yesterday night.

Yeah I wouldn't take it cuz I need to dream to. It's one of the few escapes I have. I think I would probably go crazy without sleep, and even if there are no side effects, there are probably other side effects not pertaining to sleep. Like most medicines.

Very easy question. On a level there are no downsides. From what I tell, the drug replicates the effects of sleeping without you having to be asleep? Which means no stunted growth, fatigue disappears, body cells repaired etc and for all those people complaining about how they like sleep/dreams, it seems you still have the ability to sleep.

However, imagine a world, where no-one had to sleep. I guess there are positives such as faster technological advancement due to people having more time to work but I reckon the value of labour would go down as people who were willing to would have more time to work which would mean people would have to spend more time working to make a living.

Also not being tired anymore would rule. Everyone would become more efficient and less accident on roads and in workplaces. Scratch my previous comments the positives outweigh possible negatives.

If we still had the option to sleep if we wanted to, sign me in! Somedays I don't want to sleep and I have to.... but when I do, I love sleeping.

No. I don't trust any sort of pill that promises something as grandiose as eliminating sleep, and besides, humans need sleep, physically and mentally. If you're constantly on the move, going from one activity to the next without ever resting, your mind might eventually crack from the strain.

So no, I wouldn't take a pill like that, even if it was 110% safe and tested. It's not worth it.
