I've seen it work on other websites before. I reckon if they think they have enough moderation they could try it out. Honestly I'm surprised there isn't a user content section.

The advertisement would be a problem but like I said, moderation.
I was surprised to. I'd have thought something like it would have existed from the start.

If the art stayed very far away from pretense, perhaps I would take a look at it.

I'd definitely give it a shot or two. I quite like the idea, and on a website like this, I doubt that we'd get terrible sonic fan fiction and angst twilight art and other ridiculous deviant art fare. (Okay, so I'm making a huge generalisation here, but you know what I mean.)

I can see it as a kind of DeviantArt for games, but that's kind of NewGround's deal, isn't it?
I'd love to contribute in any way to developing games, but I seriously doubt if it would be of any benefit to me considering all I'd wind up getting is a single line of credit.

I'd look at the stuff put on there but I wouldn't contribute because I am as uncreative and unoriginal as this analogy.

That was actually pretty funny.

You failed at failing! You... win?

I wouldn't. Then again I'm no art fan, I don't even like the super famous works.
Sure you are! You like video games, right :p

Yeah, I'm with you on this (not only because you offered me a hug). A place to submit your games and other related stuff on a gaming site makes sense.

But they would have to make sure that there aren't a bunch of viruses uploaded every day. Nothing worse than a place to show your work where people are afraid to watch it.

Interesting proposition.
I'd use it. However I think it may be a good idea to keep it to video game art and the like.

Oi! You never took me up on that hug! *sadface*

I don't like art. Never have. Don't see the point in having something you can't do anything with.
Video games are an art-form and you can do a lot with them. Same with music and movies. All art offers an experience.

Aww.. *Hugs*

Any ideas how this would work? Like a forum board or should there be some feature made specifically for uploading this kind of stuff?

That's like saying the picture I took of my cat sleeping on the couch is art because someone's made some artistic photographs before. OR like saying my F150 is art because people have made cars into works of art.

I don't like art. Never have. Don't see the point in having something you can't do anything with.
Just to add onto it, video games are not by default art. Some are absolute shit. Some are great fun, but I still wouldn't call them art. Some are just mindless violence.

As for music, find me a copy of Master of Puppets nailed to the wall of the Louvre and I'll concede that I like some art.
What? Music, movies and games are all art. As long as someone consider them to have an artistic value, I'd say that they're art.

There may be art in those genres but I don't partake of it. Demolition Man is a great movie, but it's not art. Avatar is a good movie, but it isn't art. Metallica's fucking awesome but their stuff isn't art. New Vegas is anything but art, but it's currently my second favorite game of all time.
Ok, so may I ask you who decides what's art and what's not? And how can someone be more qualified to define art than someone else?

This site does not allow 'Advertising' (Posting the content of your own webpages on this site), and for the most part, that's what I usually see when someone brings up 'art' submissions.

Not that I agree with the policy, only that the policy doesn't agree with your idea.
I wouldn't see it as a "post your website with your game" sort of deal. More like, posting a picture you made, a poem you wrote or a Youtube video of your game in action. Ask people to PM you if they are interested in working with you in the case of indie video games.
What I'm saying is that a large number of 'user content' post I see here are technically advertising (And therefor against the rules). And I don't think the mods here feel like making a board that going to be littered with advertising.

As for making video games, that's done in the Job Forums.
Advertising only applies (I think) to for-profit pages. I've posted up links to my own websites all the time, and haven't been pinned for it because, well, they're just blogs and art portfolios. I'm not selling anything so what am I "advertising"? Unless I start paying my bills in pageviews, I believe that's within the rules.
