Im pretty sure this hasn't been done before if it has please correct me.

What if someone made a hyper realistic zombie horror survival game where you had to find your own safe house make your own food gather your own supplies and meet other survivors in a gigantic town suck as New York. A zombie could kill you in one bite and they could only be kill be destroying the brain. You would have to survive for either a set amount of days or gather certain supplies to make some sort of make shift getaway. You would have to garden and hunt for your own food decide whether or not to kill fellow survivors for supplies or work together. Overall you would have to think of everything to survive in this game like making a trap or wake up call when you are sleeping and stuff like that.

I just want to know what you guys think of this idea please leave ideas. Constructive criticism is appreciated

lol.

j/k

Honestly, I've long wished that some development house would have the balls to release a survival/horror game with emphasis on the survival component. Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of videogame enthusiasts these days would not latch on to that concept. If one ever is released, it will be by some unknown dev house on a very low budget. But hey, it may still be good.

That sounds pretty sweet.
Especially if you could interact with other players and even start to combine your Bases and Supply's Via online co-op.

Obvious contradiction is obvious

If you want this, drop some acid and play Left 4 Dead, I'm sure you will get the desired effect.

If you give me an artists and script writer, I can do the code for a cheezy parody of what you said, (think NES style games) I can code.

Also NY is way too easy too survive the zombie apocalypse. Unless you live their you have absolutely no idea how actually boring it is.

Steal the Ferry Boat, done.

That sounds pretty cool. I don't think that I would like it, but that's just me. I'm sure It would be nice if some decent developer went ahead and tried to make this.

It'd be great if it was actually possible. Now, I'm not saying it couldn't ever happen, but do you really think no one sitting at a brainstorm session for one of the many gaming companies never thought of something similar? The problem is that in a virtual world, if you want to do something, the person who created the game probably had to think of that thing before you did, so that they could program it in. To create something like what you're talking about, well, the resources necessary, time, money, and programmers would be rediculous. Maybe someday, but don't expect to see something like that anytime soon.

I would buy into this. I've had dreams of such a game. It would have to have a good singleplayer mode though.

If it was online co-op it should be limited to a few players and they would be put in the same world and would have to find each other to work together or betray each other for supplies. But yeah that would be very sweet

I'd enjoy a more open world zombie game. Hell I'd have a ton of fun with it.

You're not the first to think up this idea: I think each and every single person who's ever read World War Z or the Zombie Survival Guide has wanted a game like that. At one point Irrational games started working on a game which was exactly that using the SWAT 4 engine, it was canceled unfortunately and the studio went on the make a little known game called Bioshock before being bought up by a giant mega-corporation. Pity that!

It sounds fine minus this:

one hit kills have always been horrible ideas in games because they reduce encounters to nothing but luck. If you do want to add one hit kills, don't have a PC, instead have a small group of survivors instead so you can quantum leap into someone else if your character gets deadified.

This could be cool, however it would take a long time to do, therefore making it almost impossible to do it online with other human players. With human players out of the picture, you would have to rely on a very fancy/complex AI, which CAN be done, but you would have to make sure it's done RIGHT. Ultimately, OP, were you planning on making such a game?

I like the core idea, but some it would need a little tweaking. Like having to grow your own crops and stuff made me think of Harvest Moon (an ungodly grinding timesink in itself) buried within the game, which I would very much disapprove of.

Actually, this might make a decent MMO of sorts, or something like that. Have the survivors on one side that have to build their bases and get food and try to escape or possibly eradicate all zombie. Then if a player gets killed by a zombie, they become a zombie and have to expand their base and try to take over the place, converting all humans to zombies.
