Bayonetta in Smash! And some random called Corrin? Who, uhh... I got nothing. NO idea who that is.

Thoughts? Anyone call Bayonetta?

I wouldn't mind Bayonetta as much if she wasn't the poll winner. I like Cloud, dunno about Corrin (he's from Fire Emblem Fates.)

I'm not terribly surprised by the results. I wish they hadn't tried to tie in a game that isn't even out yet (Corrin - from FE-Fates) and instead included another classic fighter (Simon Belmont??) or freaking Shovel Knight.

The Mii costumes are nice, but are just fluff.

Bayonetta wasn't a big surprise, but surprised that they included her given the overt sexuality she displays. I'm sure its downplayed for Smash though. Edit: I just watched the reveal. They are keeping most of it, just seems like she has a black one-piece instead of practically nothing under her "hair".

But it is telling that they didn't release who actually won the poll though (She won in Europe and was top 5 in USA) and its pretty clear Cloud was in there too, regardless of if they planned to get him beforehand. Maybe they aren't really finished (and would it be a surprise?).

Bayonetta was a great choice but felt that Smash poll was hyped up too much considering that it only resulted in the addition just one character.

Side note: Kirbayo looks a bit like Hideo Kojima.

A little disappointed that there's another Fire Emblem character. Not particularly because it's Fire Emblem, but because they have a lot of fighters already and I think the position could have been put to better use (Shovel Knight for example?). But that's very much a minor complaint in comparison to the Bayo HYPE!

Always wondered if they'd ever give in and include Bayonetta or not. She's clearly popular but the sexuality seems pretty out of place. Seems like they came close enough to a happy medium though... no point including her if they're gonna censor the hell out of her.

Is it just me, or does that "slow down the enemy" technique look OP as hell?

Corrin: Finally a Fire Emblem fighter who isn't just "generic swordsperson". The dragon morphing is nice.

Bayonetta: Unexpected, but pretty neat. People have been asking for a combo-oriented character since the game launched.

Cloud: Refreshing the DLC page every little while, so I can get him when he arrives.

GENO COSTUME: *party in the streets* I mean, it's not as cool as him being a unique fighter, but it's still pretty damn neat.

Hmm, thinking about it, the Corrin reveal is the sendoff for the 25th Fire Emblem Anniversary year, FE Fates is hugely popular in Japan and a release date scheduled for NA for March (or April? idc cause we EU gamers ain't got nothing for a date.). When you think about it that way, Corrin isn't that surprising. Still though, I can't even, hype overload man, I need to lie down.

ANYWAY, I feel like people would have been pissed off about Tails, Knuckles and Geno being relegated to the status of Mii costumes. My GF was pissed about the Tails costume but when they announced Bayonetta she went full on fan-girl. I went full-on Fanboy over Cloud though. Midgar looks freaking awesome but I would have liked more FF costumes than just the Chocobo hat. Where's my Mage robes?

Bayonetta being in Smash is AWESOME...even though she doesn't use BDSM techniques but that is to be expected. Her stage looks neat too but Midgar and Cloud has me so freaking hyped...buuuuuut I'm waiting a week or so before I start downloading.

I'd rate it an awesome. i just feel that with all the DLC characters having some form of functional gimmick, it just leaves Mewtwo, Lucas and Roy in the dust due to being existing characters. and with Corrin, it just makes Lucina seem the most plain of the original Sm4sh newcomers. Nintendo seems a bit too fast with the Fire Emblem repping, Fates hasn't even came out in the west yet, we're not even sure how it'll fare compared to Awakening when it kind of Persona 4ified the series.

Falling clock tower seemed a bit lazy though, seems like a few moving platforms. unless there's more stuff to make it interesting.

I think it's smart choices, both Ryu & Cloud for the new game and general popularity, Bayonetta because she needs more love ...The Fire Emblem character I felt was a bit redundant since the game seems to be over populated by them but, that's okay don't have to buy that.

I don't have the game but it's been a real treat to admire the art and character models in the game since launch and now.

Been seeing a lot of fanboy bias on both sides for Cloud though. Both angry that he's in smash, Sony fanboys because they're delusional and think FFVII and/or Cloud were ever exclusive to PS/Sony and Nintendo fanboys upset because they think it should be Nintendo-only or that FFVII was when Square "Betrayed" Nintendo.

Such insane company bias weirdos, I don't get it. :\

Yeah, but they're all actual characters with personalities. It's nowhere near as bad as the onslaught of pookeymanns.
I'm just sad we're not getting a costume pack for existing characters to do things like different iterations of Link, or actual Robin. (Robin was a beefy dude with short brown hair, not a svelte dude with wacky Japanime hair)

Well Corrin I have no feelings towards whatsoever. FFVII and Bayonetta are games I absolutely love as in I have every version of FFVII they have released in the west and bought a WiiU simply to play Bayonetta 2 and Xenoblade X.

That said while I am glad the characters are getting more exposure I really dont think they fit in with the game very well (same with Ryu) someone like Shantae or Shovel Knight or King.K.Rool etc would much better fit this game imo. Cloud would be perfect for say a Soul Calibur game and Bayonetta would be perfect for anything made by Arc Systems or any more traditional single player high speed frenetic fighter.

I have Smash on the WiiU (only Nintendo game I have on it) and I dont think I have played more than 2 hours of it since its release it just does not seem to grab me which is also probably why I am not as hype as I would otherwise be for these (awesome) characters. If I was being picky I would also say I am not over enamoured with the way they animate especially Bayo she does not seem to move very smooth but that may just be the trailer.

Corrin... yet another sword user in a game that's already plagued by them, but he can turn his sword into a chainsaw and he himself can turn into a pokemon... yay?

Never heard of Corrin, haven't seen enough of Fire Emblem Fates just yet, and I'd prefer if it stayed that way for the time being (will look up stuff later when I'm trying to decide if I should buy that or Persona 5).

Eh, Cloud is alright. Bayonetta sounds really cool, but my enthusiasm is a bit wilted, if only because I've been waiting for Isaac (or his son, idc) from Golden Sun to be a playable character for a long while now...

Guess I'm gonna be waiting a while.

P.S. Yes, I realize I'm letting my disappointment affect how I feel about Bayonetta being in Smash, which is pretty awesome, but still, Golden Sun...

Isaac doesn't even need to use his sword for much, he has psynergy and summons, that should be more than enough, right..?

Only Bayonetta was, to me, both predictable and fucking awesome in terms of her coming to Sm4sh... Everything else was either "coolio" (Cloud) or "why" (Corrin) until I thought about the entire current roster thus far... It's Zelda v Pokemon v Fire Emblem v "Everyone else" in Sm4sh only without about 10 characters that still haven't made a [complete] comeback due to differentiating all of the potential "clone"-based characters and shit like that...

Other than that, I got some money to save up so that I can buy all of the DLC characters in one go... and then realize that I barely play Sm4sh for Wii U because it lacks a "Smash Run"-like equivalent that the 3DS has...

What sting did they pulled to get Bayonetta? (Yes I know that sequel is an exclusive to the Wii U.)

Also what does Corrin Kirby look like cos his/ her hair is similar to Robin?

Also man I should get back into Smash. I wonder if they will release character packs instead of buying one of them at a time?
