You gave a list of what other characters can do but the main point you accidently made is thet the pyro can do all of those things.

Poor Pyro =(
Would be nice to have a class that holds a decent medium range weapon though. An Assault rifle (m-16 or somethin) instead of the old 'pop' rifle. I'm sure people can relate to a 'captain Price' in TF2 :)

How about Valve improving the existing classes instead of creating yet another class. The engineer has yet to have a decent update and I've yet to see a trailer for the Doctor and the Pyro.

Couldn't this guy just be replaced with a new weapon for the soldier?
If you took away his shotgun he would have a vulnerable range. Then you could bring the bayonet power up, and raise the clip size back to six and have his gameplay be all about range manipulation.

I love the Pyro...

It's great...It's fast, has great health for a faster class, and has a flamethrower.

Sorry but I really disapprove of any idea involving adding classes to TF2.

Don't get me wrong, that's actually a nice class build. But the game is so rounded and robust on all sides, another class simply doesn't have a place.

Considering how balanced the game is, it seems pointless to have a solider/sniper hybrid.

But the game hasn't been balanced since the first class update.

No... while your concept art is good I don't think the idea fits very well into the current game past that. Now if I could just get the damn idea I keep having out of my head about TF2 there might be a place for it in there. I call the concept: Meet the CEO!

The idea is each class has a overpowered version of themselves but there is limitations to balance it out. First there is a whole bunch of new game settings, such as assassination or capture the enemy base where only the CEO can do the capturing, to make the CEO useful as more then just a overpowered pawn. This means that the CEO will only be seen in some maps, and not all of them so they are not over used either. The way it works is simple: Randomly, a single person on each side (or just one side in some maps) is selected to be the CEO and depending on the class already chosen is how the computer decides what CEO they play.

Then they have to complete the objective, depending on what it is, while keeping themselves alive as it would be a normal 'instant fail' of the CEO is lost. Or if the map allows a new CEO to be chosen, well who wants to lose the fact they have a overpowered character to something stupid as dying and having to wait for another, random, chance to become one again!

In that idea, well your guy could be a possible candidate for the sniper position and would be made a little more powerful as it would have a lot more health to balance the fact that killing the CEO is a easier way to win these map types and to make the CEO such a threat the whole team will suicide rush the bloody player the moment they see them. The rest of this idea has a shit load of information, ranging from possible over-powered weapon types and even special abilities the CEO would have such as a aura affect (to encourage team mates to protect his/her arse) and a time based over kill bonus that triggers every minute or so (to encourage the damn CEO to keep himself alive)...

Damn it, now I want to re-live that idea but I have the realistic mentality: Valve would never bother reading it, let alone implement it. So why bother?

PS: The spies knife damage would have to be reduced to kill a overpowered heavy so the CEO isn't back stabbed to death more then any other death.
Well, what would be better is having a randome member of the team (or both) spawn as Saxton Hale.

No. Mainly because the Pyro is my second favorite class. If you know how to use it you can cause some serious damage, and panic, especially in a crowded area. It's an ambush class, so you can't just run up to someone and expect to win, but when you pop up from around a corner and let loose it's devastating.

Interesting and all that. But long range is what the sniper was designed to handle. And even though you don't like pyro's, I wouldn't retire a class to make way for a new class. The only way they can add to TF2 is to do just that. If they add a new character, it would have to be balanced like you suggested. And again I like the idea, it just makes long range too easy. If you want to snipe, be a sniper :)

However, I do like the machine gun the sniper has as well. It would be interesting to see something like that on a new character :)

Nice drawing, but I don't like the idea. Team Fortress 2 is perfectly balanced, and the Pyro excels at three areas where other classes falter- melee, pushing back stickies, and capping busy control points in tight corners. Maybe there might be room for your class (though an easy to use no-scope sniper rifle seems a bit overpowered), but none of the classes should be replaced.
When people mention perfect balance in TF2, I'm reminded of the Demo Sword. Practically the reason I quit that game.

You see, the game was essentially "perfectly balanced" not long after it came out. WHen they decided to add major updates to every class involving a lot of new weapons, it became an absolute clusterfuck.

And hell, we already have a class like this. Just give the bastard sniper a bow and all the sudden he can kill in one shot while being mobile.

It was still wonderfully balanced the last time I played in February.

Yeah, to be honest, the game doesn't really suffer from the lack of a class of this type, the Pyro is fun enough to play already, and the game is filled with enough unecessary crap already.

But that's a pretty cool drawing.
