Pc elitism turning on other pc gamers who didn't buy their favorite game, from their favorite developer/publisher jeez big surprise? /sarcasm

On topic: Whilst as you already know now I'm not very surprised, but I do find this slightly disturbing. You can't get better at the game if the community that might actually be able to help you on your quest for awesomeness won't let you into their clubhouse, cause your a free player and hence don't own the hats neccesary to join their club full of elitist jerks. So your potential as a player of said game is kind of broken from the start. Another game that does this is LoL. You don't know the game I'm playing aswell as I do so go play with bots! (really? yea you could play with bots or you could just find a game that doesn't have a community filled with douches)

sad way to further the agenda's of trolls... just b/c someone doesn't pay for it doesn't mean they suck. it's as if i buy a soccer ball and kick it, but someone else gets the ball for free and kicks it. it doesn't mean i can kick it better b/c i bought it... well no one ever lost $ on the stupidity so what's new

I have a slower computer and the servers that post fake players counts set me on edge, never encountered a server that kicks you because of lack of hats though.
That's because there aren't any. There are three strategies to combat fake player counts:

1. Be aware of which server groups use them; Lotus is notorious for spoofing player counts, and has reserved slots. Servers that are 1 or 2 below their max are suspect for both offenses.
2. Blacklist problem servers. There are plenty of fish in the sea.
3. Right click and view server info. If it doesn't give you a bunch of player names the count is fake.

Some of you may have seen the post but it's about a guy who was feeling unwelcome to TF2 because of the discrimination towards F2P players. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.296918-Im-feeling-unwelcome-in-TF2?page=1

I like it.

It just further proves the type of mentality that the STEAM community has.
This made me chuckle xD

OT: Yeh that quite silly, Valve will do something about it though, as someone stated it's against their policy.

Feel sorry for the players the got it for free though, the TF2 community sure know how to discriminate the new F2P players =\

Well it won't exactly keep those servers 100% noob free. I'm absolutely awful at TF2 but I bought it. I think it's odd to just assume that every F2P player will be rubbish but that anyone that bought it will be worth playing with...

I'm against the mod...nothing against F2P people, everyone was newb once ;)

The server I play on though have started using Password, so regulars can join, the first week the server was full all the time, with non-regulars.

Password is easy to find though, it's on the servers steam page, so if the guys join the steam page they can join the server.

I don't understand all this snobbery towards the new F2P players. It's not like there weren't new players and griefers before and tarring all of the newcomers with the same brush because of a few bad examples is incredibly childish. I certainly don't approve of this plugin. I've owned TF2 since I bought The Orange Box back when it was released but I haven't really played it much until now. The influx of fresh blood from it going F2P was part of the reason I decided to give it another chance, and I'm actually enjoying myself playing it now.

Why not make it so that you kick annoying players, i feel that this is only an excuse for people to feel superior because they paid for it, i'm pretty competitive on TF2 and yet i had no way of paying for it before.

if a server admin or admins who actually pay to run a server want to use it good for them, they pay for it, its only like back in the day when cod had propper servers and there were sniper only servers etc, they seperate the smg noobs from snipers and so on...

Wow, that's really fcking dumb. "Hey guys, lets ban the influx of new players who want to have fun like us. Damn them to heck I say!"

Which part of the player base has more noobs and griefers though? It's the same rationale behind guilds and clans that don't allow teenagers.

Elitists gonna... erm... elite?

On one side if people are hosting their own servers it's their call who gets to use it and if they want to set that restriction on an irrational and immaterial standard that's their call. That doesn't mean I approve.

The plugin IS discrimination. Case closed. I am a free to play player and I am just as good at this game as any of you who paid for it. So shove off and quit trying to get rid of us. We're average gamers just like the rest of you, and there's absolutely no reason to want us gone except this stupid irrational fear. "Oh boo hoo, some people might join who aren't very good at the game." Suck it up you pansy. So a handful of noobs get into the game. So what? A handful of noobs will be on the opposing team too. Which means you'll be able to dominate even better! How is that a bad thing!?

How do you make a script that automatically kicks annoying players?

Silly, knee jerk behaviour. One day down the line when less people are playing they'll be grateful for those opponents.
