Currently there is a rumor that David Hayter may not perform the voice of Snake in the next Metal Gear I was wondering how you all felt about this. Remember that in the new Metal Gear you will be playing as Big Boss slightly past the events of Peace Walker, in theory. So it may make sense to have a different voice actor. Just wanted to see what you guys thought

Here is the link to the story

I'd be 'okay' with it, although I be much happier with David Hayter. I mean, like David Bateson and Michael Ironside with Agent 47 and Sam Fisher, he is Snake, so to speak.

I'm still disappointed that Ironside isn't going to be in the new Splinter Cell.

Well, I'm not a MGS fan, so personally I wouldn't be fazed.

Seem like a strange thing to do though. Hayter's smoker-throat growls are iconic to the series.

SNAKE?
SNAKE?!
SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!

It'd be a damn shame for sure if this is true. He did Big Boss for MGS3 and Peace Walker, so there's no reason not to keep him on, logically.
Hell, I don't even play the games (just watch LPs) and I'd be really sad to see him go.

Would I be okay with it? No.
Would it stop me from buying the next MGS game if I thought it was going to be good? No.

This is the same situation Splinter Cell fans are in with the replacement if Michael Ironside. Like them, would voice my dissatisfaction, but I would keep it within a realistic perspective.

I'd have to hear the new voice actor before I decided if it was a deal breaker or not, but I would definitely prefer David Hayter in any circumstance.

Yeah you are all making good points but I feel like they could make it work based on Big Bosses age in Ground Zeroes since Hayter doesn't voice him in MGS4. But I suppose he is much older in that particular game.

That's just as bad as having somebody other than Nolan North play Nathan Drake. It's just wrong.

David has been voicing Snake since 1998. If somebody else does do Snake, he's going to have to do an impression of David or else everything will be off.

New Snake voice should be Ironside. Just cause.

Honestly, I don't care about the new voice. I'm just curious as to why they need a new one?

Also because Hayter was doing regular Snake as well. That shit would've just been confusing considering he only seems to have one "Snake voice".

Well Snake is a clone of Big Boss, so they should have had the same voice.

Don't know why Liquid sounds like this guy though

Not really. Not even in the context of Metal Gear - Liquid, Solidus, and Solid are all clones of Big Boss and none of the three have the same voice as I recall.

It has to do with dominant and recessive genes man, you just don't understand. It was supposed to be like that!

OT: No. Snake with a different voice just wouldn't be snake. He'd have to sound like David Hayter or it would just be weird as hell, and I don't think I could take it.

Solidus and Big Boss do have the same voice actor I believe which makes sense given that he is the only perfect clone of Big Boss. But I'm still unsure what reason Kojima would be able to work out as to why Big Boss' voice would change between PW and Ground Zeroes

I'm torn. Obviously I'm attached to David Hayter as the voice of Snake since it has always been him.

Snake has always sounded like someone trying too hard to fake a tough, gravelly voice. I've never considered it to be a particularly good voice performance, but at this point, I think that any other voice just wouldn't be Snake.

I kinda like the idea of getting Richard Doyle to play him, but at the same time, I'll feel like I'm playing a completely different character.

If Hayter did an ever-so-slightly different voice, that would be brilliant.

David is Snake.

I don't care if Snake is an infant, David needs to voice his ass.

So no, I would not be okay with this at all. I would seriously need to go cold turkey if I'm gonna wanna play an MGS game without David voicing Snake.

As much as i like David Hayter and think he is a important part of the series, i would love to here Ron Perlmin as snake.

I'd live with it but I'd be deeply saddened by the abscence of David Hayter from the role. The man IS Snake...
