I'm fairly sure that's unconfirmed, but absolutely believable. Queensland is a fairly tropical place, and the floods got seriously deep in some places. A few bull sharks floating around isn't too far of a stretch.Sonicron said:A few days ago I read in international news that in flooded parts of Brisbane there are sharks swimming along the main roads. Um...much worse flooding in Brazil, remember? Several hundred deaths.Cheskaz said:Lately though, we've had the worst luck with natural disasters.olicon said:Not when I'm outside, no.
Australia is too peaceful. You aren't on a brink of war like the rest of us..so no, our news tends to be much more colorful than yours.
Look on the bright side--no news is good news. You should be happy no one has to hear about your country (mainly because nothing truly that bad ever happens there).
Of course they would. Collectively, Australians are the nicest people I've met in the world! Unless the NZers are so nice they actually make you guys look like jerks..in which case, I would need to start making a great many friends there.Cheskaz said:I imagine being on the brink of war is pretty awful too. Difference is we can't blame anyone.
Unfortunatly I doubt the Kiwis would take us...
The Brisbane River, which unsurprisingly runs right through the city of Brisbane, is home to an estimated 500 bull sharks. Royal Australian Navy divers have been using anti-shark equipment while working in the river post-flood.Sonicron said:A few days ago I read in international news that in flooded parts of Brisbane there are sharks swimming along the main roads. Sweet Jesus. I hope those areas have been thoroughly evacuated. Imagine yourself still out there - I'd be afraid even to get around in a small rowboat for fear of getting attacked and eaten. x_xRhombusHatesYou said:The Brisbane River, which unsurprisingly runs right through the city of Brisbane, is home to an estimated 500 bull sharks. The flooding in Australia, to my knowledge, was actually worse than those in Brazil. The deaths in Brazil were mostly due to the poor state the country is in compared to Australia. The Australian floods were managed amazingly well by the government, police and service groups. In Brazil it was a free for all.thaluikhain said:Um...much worse flooding in Brazil, remember? Did some cursory research, and these ugly suckers are apparently a rather aggressive breed.MelziGurl said:Bull sharks were actually located in GoodnaFeisty little shits them Bull sharks...
Well you sheep shaggers have to have something to care about, lord knows that there isn't anything of note happening in your backyard.CL4P-TP said:Living in New Zealand, the media makes us care. Bollocks.
Usually you have to get a lotion for that.SirDeadly said:The 40 degree heat down here in Adelaide killed the crabs![]()

Ah, ok...so they should stop comparing Yasi to Katrina then, by the same logic?Kortney said:The flooding in Australia, to my knowledge, was actually worse than those in Brazil. It bloody is when a few years ago, the heat we've got today was a 'record high'.Alexnader said:I bet some of the few times people on this site outside Australia's immediate region hear about it is via Zero Punctuation.
You mean Queenslanders. In Sydney the worst thing we've had is a "heatwave", which is basically a yearly occurrence in one form or another which you have to admit is hardly something to whinge about in Australia of all places.Cheskaz said:Lately though, we've had the worst luck with natural disasters.olicon said:Not when I'm outside, no.

Cyclone Yasi didn't hit Australia in full. It skimmed the coast and only affected a few towns, thank God. It doesn't look like anyone was killed.thaluikhain said:Ah, ok...so they should stop comparing Yasi to Katrina then, by the same logic?Kortney said:The flooding in Australia, to my knowledge, was actually worse than those in Brazil.
