Poll: Nintendo DS:Worth it?

Get an R4 chip. I can't say what it does here (for fear of this turning into a thread about the "P" word...), but look it up. Well worth the £20-£30 price tag for what it lets you do.

EDIT: Just seen the comment about Trauma Center... Am I the only one who always failed the missions because I came over all "Zorro" like and carved my initials in his chest?

TWEWY's combat system isn't that complicated and you sort of build it around how you want to play really, if you want to hack and slash at them then you put the corresponding pins on

If you want to sit at the back you put pins on that let you run around and knock enemies back on

You can even set the top screen on auto so you don't need to watch both screens, but if you want the biggest and baddest combos and fastest kills your better off using both

yeah, I bought a lite a day before ht DSi came out. Just didnt see the point. I figured I may as well get a DSlite with some awesome RPGs, puzzle & side scrolling to satisfy my urge. I think the main appeal to me was the portability, I can get my gaming fix for the day, then go home and actually do work, or play while I'm waiting, or on the train. I think it is going to stay with me always.

DS is loads better than PSP. The PSP has better graphics and media capabilties etc, and is on the whole a better all-round system, but the short battery life and lack of GAMES on a GAMES-CONSOLE mean that the innovation of the DS is the metaphorical knife weddged in its fat, navy behind. And from what I've heard, Pokemon Platinum is worse then Pear; or Diamond, so get either of them instead (but I havev't got it, so I don't know for sure). Pheonix Wright is also a brilliant game if you enjoy some simple lateral thinking. AVOID ANIMAL CROSSING AT ALL COSTS. Thanks

How could Platinum be WORSE than Diamond or Pearl? I've played all of the add on games like Crystal and Emerald, and they only add to the original games, and don't do anything to make it worse. Its basically the same game though.

That may be, but there isn't really anything else of interest to me on the PSP, and I'm not that big of a GTA fan.

Maybe its because there aren't a lot of games on it.

Do you think they would? I didn't think that the DSi would be able to hold all of that. The only thing it has now is stupid little mini game things, and those are worthless to me.

I've had my original DS since release...

Aside a few scratches it's perfect, not had any technical problems or any such trouble...

Granted, about 80% of the games are utter rubbish, but their are quite a few gems on it too...

And yes, if you haven't played chrono trigger then go and do it...

PSP for sure, with 126 games rated green (75+ http://www.metacritic.com/games/psp/scores/ ) and games like Little Big Planet PSP, Motorstorm PSP and Assassin's Creed PSP to name just a few coming out this year its a great time to get a PSP. Of course there are also the massive amount of feature advantages the PSP has, but the DS is still good for more "handheld" style games.

I will agree with you in regards to the PlayStation store kicking Nintendo's ass in the hand held department...for now. But the rest of your statement is one bad sweeping generalization. Like the wii, the DS has mountains of shit, look harder and you'll see the DS has plenty of games that aren't just for "3 year olds". Come on you can't hold a grudge over the DS because of a few devs spoiling the library a bit. This is all coming from someone who owns a PSP and not a DS.

I'm sure the PSP is similar in that regard. The PSP has to have lots of crappy games, along with the good ones. Its like this on every console, except the DS and the Wii just have features that can be gimmicky when used wrong. Which is almost all of the time.

I am 90% sure there will be an online store of some store, if you buy the DSi, I think you get like 1000 free points. Not saying there is anything right now, but I think a lot of online stuff in coming.

I'd expect them to do what sony did with the PSP and have the full store on the hand held. The DSi's store would essentially be like or practically linked to the Wii's virtual console. Wouldn't be surprised if you could play old NES and SNES games on your DSi, which would be made of pure win.

There's 5 games available on the DSi shop right now, and more should be out soon.

And I guess I'll be the first to say if you get a DS, get Contra 4 if you live in the U.S. It may not use the touch-screen, but it doesn't have to, as it's so intense and crazy you won't even miss it. If you live in the PAL regions, then you're out of luck there.

But seriously, a DS is worth it for the large library of great games on it. It's really one of the best gaming systems available.

Yes get it, games like Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, Pokemon, and more it's hard not to reccommend it. Also apparently I should play Chrono Trigger...

Buy a DS Lite and the Advanced Wars + Fire Emblem series. Both are amazing series and I would highly recommend buying both the GBA and DS titles.

PSP for sure, ...*snip*... but the DS is still good for more "handheld" style games.

Ummm I thought thats what a handheld system was for? handheld games? If I wanted to play other types of games I'd turn on my PC.
