I have no favourite game of 2009. I mainly spent the time with MMOs (WoW and War), TF2, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age. And i don't think DA:O is my game of 2009 despite me enjoying it alot. If that makes any sense.

I would say Batman Arkham Asylum because it was the Dark Horse Candidate. Nobody expected a super-hero game to be that Good. And it did so much so well!
Assasin's Creed 2 is a very very very close second. It was the previous' spiritual successor, but with better combat. But it didn't surprise as many people like Arkham did.
So bottom line; give first place to a game that changes the world.

I choose Dragon Age, but your pathetic poll does not offer it, instead providing nothing but meager, sub-par games.
I would agree with you, but Dragon Age is still fresh. It hasn't been through its Longevity Test. Not to mention, its been clearly stated that its first in a series. But come 2010, it'll take all the categories by storm.

Its spelt inFamous not inFamus.

Also I find that MW2 got boring fast, if you dont have MP its not even worth half the price.

The single biggest complaint in MW2 was that the story mode was sorta short, and that is barely even a complaint. This is almost as bad as when they named Fable 2 as the best. So in conclusion, screw X-Play.
The single biggest complaint was not that. What most people complained about was the lack of dedicated servers, which is because they just ported the game from consoles onto the PC. THAT was the " single biggest complaint ". Funny how you talk about x-play not knowing what they are talking about when you don't know what YOU are talking about.

I'm more oh god another look at me Title, pointless poll and observation.

People all have views on a good game, but ya know when something really shines in the suckage department it sticks out.

I'd say Batman was good all round just because it made you feel like the crime fighting bad ass himself. If you slipped off a ledge you pull yourself up, or accidently fall in water he keeps a bit of dignity and gets out. Not dies for falling in three feet of water. And the combat flowed. Yeah people like that, and they rave about it. Why? Because no one wants to play a superhero like character who is indestructable but dies every three seconds to weapons known to never harm him, or who can fly, drill, go into outerspace, but some how that three feet of sewage water kills him everytime.

Sometimes small detail can make a game a gem, sometimes it kills it outright.

You forgot Dragon Age
I love Dragon Age. I'm on the last boss, my only problem is, can you continue the game after the Arch-demon is dead? I'm level 19, I only have one save in Fort Drakon before the boss, and I will so annoyed if I can't get to level 20 and get my achievement.

Yeah, my game of the year is Dragon Age, followed closely by Forza 3 and Assassins Creed 2.

Prototype for me. Even though I enjoyed Batman:AA and played the beginning and some other bits of AC2 on my friends 360, I love how you can just pick up Prototype, relax and have fun!

I'd say it was between Uncharted and Assassin's Creed ("The Two's") but Assassin's Creed 2 inches ahead with extra points of being non-exclusive.

So that's Assassin's Creed 2.
Word by word, what he said. As he has the same opinion as me, he obviously knows what he's talking about.

Well the only game I've played was Prototype. A lot of fun, but it sure as hell isn't game of the year material.

this one -_-

also the biggest complaint about MW2 was the fact that it's story was virtually nonexistent! and what there was...well it was REALLY short.

Do you live under a rock? Seriously. Out of all the crap about MW2 all you heard about was the story being short. The biggest complaint was about dedicated servers, and there were many other complaints about it that were worse than the story being short.

And that ^

Also, from what I've read/seen, Batman Arkham Asylum, InFamous, Prototype weren't really GOTY good, but still good. AC2 I wasn't going to waste my time with after the first was got boring after an hour. Oh, and you spelled half of the games wrong in the poll.

I'd probably say Colin McRae: DiRT 2 since I'm a racing-game enthusiast, but if I HAD to choose another game, I'd probably go for the newest Prince of Persia, just because I haven't played so many games in '09.
