Poll: Now that the price drop/slim is official, do you want a PS3?

It's all been true. There's a price cut (it's $299) and a slim ps3 (also $299) on the way.
If you haven't gotten one already, are you interested now?
Will you want the slim or are you going to try and get the older model?

I would, but I've already got one (not slim ofc) and I'm no going to get a slim unless it breaks (Unlikely, it's like a tank). Besides, of late I've found myself rather attached to my PS3, like it's a dog or something.

It doesn't look like there's a slot to switch in a larger HDD. Is that a feature you would've taken advantage of?
That's the only immediate difference. Of course we wont be able to tell yet if it will spontaneously combust like some consoles.

I take offense at the fact that, according to your poll, I have to be a "PC/360/Wii" Fanboy in order to not want the PS3.

Can't you add an option for the average schlup like me who just couldn't give a crap? I have a PC, I am in no way rabidly attached to it, but it serves me well enough, and I'm not passionate enough to shell out any amount of cash on a console right now!

(In other words, I'm a smelly student type who wouldn't be able to afford a PS3 even if they were going for free - it'd probably push my electricity bill too steep, y'see)

Already got a PS3, so unless this one dies or something happens to it, no.

Plus I love my PS3. Its like what Yahtzee said, "A big dog, a little slow at times but always bringing in your slippers every morning."

I've grown quite attached to it. It's yet to disappoint me.

I might get it, but I think I should ask my brother to sell his 360 and we can share mine and we can get the ps3 slim, since his 360 doesn't have live.

I haven't seen any solid information to confirm whether the slim can play PS2 games.

Not that I'd want it anyway, mind you, I already have a PS3, but I wouldn't have bought one at all if it weren't backwards compatible.

i reallly reallllllly want ratchet and clank. i've been slowly dying since i moved on from the ps2. and after all... to shut up the 360 fanboys that might be on here...

how many games on the 360 can you not play on a pc/ps3 combo. very very freakin few

a good pc and a 300 dollar ps3 is the logical gaming combination. mathematically. since the 360 is still about that price. factor everything in and a logical mathematician will tell you so.

I've been debating buying one for some time and this price drop only makes it more enticing. I'll keep an eye out on this slim model and see what the pros and cons of it are before forking over the cash. If it's not what it's cracked out to be I have no problem buying an older model. I better start saving up (or more like recuperating my savings) for this, now if only the prices of the god damn games weren't so absurd here.

Probably won't get one any time soon, seeing as I don't have the money for it price drop or not, and there's just not enough games on the PS3 that interest me to warrant a purchase for me. I mean, yeah there's inFamous but that's just not enough for me to buy a whole other console.

I already have a 360, and I find I like the exclusives on that a lot more than the PS3 ones. Plus, multi-plat games tend to run & look better on the 360 than the PS3 apparently.

If there was a "no, there aren't enough games that interest me that don't have a superior alternative on PC, Wii or Xbox to justify purchasing another console" option, I'd have gone for that.

Pick up the GOTY edition and save yourself some money.
Anywho it's price finally dropped so maybe it'll be more mainstream now. I already own one, not thinking of having it replaced anytime soon though.
