I've owned a 60 gig super fat PS3 since launch. So it's already backwards compatible. I think the price drop is nice; if I didn't already own mine (and wasn't totally satisfied with it) I would buy the slim. Then again, I always get left out on the slim versions due to me buying them at launch (PS and PS2 I'm looking at you).

Already have one, still don't want one.

I actually prefer the fat one to the slim one, actually. The slim version looks like something from Fisher Price. The matte black is nice, but the 360 did it better (no random grey toy buttons and shiny panels).

I also preferred the original Xbox controller to the S version.

100$ is a nice price drop but right now the only exclusive title on the PS3 I want is Infamous and I'll probably want Heavy Rain when it comes out. That's not enough.

I asked my brother if it got him interested in buying one. After looking over the games for it he concluded that Killzone 2 was the only game on it he had real interest in.

So, 'till the next price drop.

I haven't seen any solid information to confirm whether the slim can play PS2 games.

Not that I'd want it anyway, mind you, I already have a PS3, but I wouldn't have bought one at all if it weren't backwards compatible.

This is the reason I can't participate in the poll: in terms of price, the PS3 is right where I want it, but until BC comes out, I can't get it. Otherwise I have a stack of PS2 games with no way to play them.

I'd only get one if they put backwards compatibility back in. I don't have room for another console, and I'm not about to throw away any of my PS2 or PSX games.

Pretty much yeah, I was hoping for a price drop. I'm finally sold Sony. Only took 4 years.

I can finally get my hands on LittleBigPlanet, I've been praying for a port of that game for so long.
There has been price drops for the PS3. I don't know why people think that this the first price drop for the PS3 ever. And LittleBigPlanet would never be ported. They have a deal with Sony. But a PSP version is coming out, so if you don't buy that PS3...

Well it appear it will cost double what I expected and looks damn ugly in my opinion, such a shame..

__NOTE__

It does have a blue ray player which I find soo ***** annoying, if I want a bly ray player I buy a damn blu ray player GRHH.. theyre doing it because blu ray isent as big as they want it to be so they want to keep pushing it. Thats what I think anyway
Why would you find having a Blu-Ray DVD player as annoying? You find it annoying that they are giving you Blu-Ray DVD player? If you buy a Blu-Ray DVD player, your spending anywhere from $150-$350 so might as well just buy a PS3. They put Blu-Ray into the PS3 to make people want to buy a Blu-Ray player, that plays games. They are not trying to make the Blu-Ray any more popular. It won the HDDVD Vs Blu-Ray contest and once Blu-Ray becomes cheaper, that's what everyone is going to have.
How stupid are you, how much do you think it costs them to put a blu ray player in there? Whatever it costs, people buying PS3 are paying for it, you make it sound like its a "freebie", and the majority of people wont ever use it. I'd rather buy a dedicated Blu ray player for a few reasons I wont go into, (Remote, noice, sound quality, not wanting a console)

They put Blu ray player in there so they can sell more blu ray dvd's

Personally: no

1. i dislike Sony too much (too much corporate arrogance for me to swallow, MS is the lesser of two evils here)
2. the PS3 controller is uncomfortable
3. there's not any games i really want for the system that aren't on the PC/360

That said, i do like the new design, it's a big upgrade on the old PS3

I'm sorry, did you really just say that?

Even a midrange PC can perform significantly better than either console nowadays. due to this console generation lasting much longer than previous ones, they're seriously lagging behind PCs now.

If anything, current PC's are being held back by the consoles at the moment due to multi-platform development

No, there aren't enough exclusives that interest me, and I really don't like DualShock controllers anymore, they just feel so small and, I don't know, fragile. But then I have quite big hands.

I'm not trolling I swear, I'm not getting one because there is no games on PS3 that warrant the price since I already have a 360 with all the latest games, only thing that looks interesting coming to PS3 is Mag

How about until PS3 has enough good exclusives to warrant a purchase?

No, I'm not a fanboy. I have what one might call reasons for preferring a different gaming medium.
Xbox has a few decent exclusives and some pretty fun multiplayer, but not enough to buy one.
Wii has 2 or 3 good exclusives, but I'll just buy the games when my sister buys a Wii.

PC has versatility, an internet browser, Age of Empires, Starcraft, and this game (soon to be). I'll stick with a PC for now; the reasons to use consoles don't really apply to me, so I'll put console gaming on hold until better games come out.

I was really looking forward to getting a PS3 but then I remember that I would still have to upgrade my TV to be able to play it to a decent quality. So it's more like: Hey you took down the price on the system; too bad I still have to pay close to $1000 for a TV to support it.

I've personally been waiting for a price drop before getting it, something around £250. And hey, that's what I got. But how does [a href:"http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi?Amount=300&From=USD&To=GBP&x=0&y=0"]300USD translate to 250GBP[/a]? But being cheaper AND smaller, it's a win in the end.

in case you cant tell, i am a very big Sony fan(not fanboy, just a fan, theres a difference) and think that fanboys are short sighted little arses that are so held up in their little holes clenching ever so tightly to their Xboxs that they cant see how good the other consoles are, for example, the other day i heard some guy say that the PS3's graphics were complete bollocks and that PCs had better graphics than it, this guy was obviously one of the people i just explained a few lines ago

....sigh.
