Original Leak Post [https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoNX/comments/4avdcg/codename_nx/] (Reddit Link)
In depth analysis of the picture [http://www.destructoid.com/are-these-leaked-images-of-the-nintendo-nx-controller--349431.phtml] (Destructoid)

The Controller has haptic buttons and joysticks, two analog bumpers that roll like a mouse wheel, and most of the front of the controller is a touch screen. The 2nd image shows that very little photoshopping was done to the image (especially not to the controller itself), and the 3rd image shows what is displayed on the controller itself. The fourth image shows a Nintendo patent that is similar to the controller.

Recently, a trusted source at NeoGAF posted (in hex code) that this image should not have been leaked [http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=198593439&postcount=2677], hinting that this might indeed be a true Nintendo NX controller/handheld/prototype.

What does the Escapist community think of this controller? Currently, there has been a lot of negative feedback from the internet saying "It looks uncomfortable to hold", "we don't want gimmicks", "the NX is doomed if this is it's controller" and other doom and gloom things. Personally, I think it's an interesting idea, and other then the Oval design, I see nothing really wrong with it.

UPDATE: New pictures of the controller leak have been leaked and added to the main page. The primary link (in German) is here [http://www.consolewars.de/news/65372/geruecht_neue_bilder_des_nx_controllers_aufgetaucht/]. The fifth and sixth image are from this site.

That looks a) completely fake, and b) too gash darn "innovative" for Nintendo.

It would also be uncomfortable as fuck to hold in your hands, as the elongated oval extremities would hamper your grip. Speaking of grips... There don't even seem to be any.

I know the Wii-U controller isn't optimal, but at least it looks like something you could hold in your hands. Any controller needs to be able to comfortable rest in your hands. Even the Wiimote got that right.

So yeah, fake. And if it isn't... God help us all.

I hate the Wii-U controller. Feels like I'm holding a fucking TV and I hate it. I really wanted to play Bayonetta 2 and Xenoblade X but that control is keeping me far away from that console.

Looks like a pretty neat concept controller, but probably not a good idea for a primary controller.

I doubt it's actually an NX controller. If it is, it's probably really early concept, much like those super cool, super impractical concept cars motor companies put out. By the time their done, it will look a lot more conventional.

You can always get the Pro controller. Though yes, it's kind of lame you have to buy another controller to play the game's 'normally.'

I had a hard time getting used to Wii U's primary controller myself. Still can't use it for Smash (Got a Gamecube controller adapter for Smash), but once you get the hand of it, it's great. Played through the entirety of Twilight Princess with it, no problem. Even got some play in bed action.

I am confused. What the hell am I looking at?

Not being sarcastic, I am genuinely confused. Is the controller itself the screen? Is the entire face of the controller a screen?

Anyway, looks horrible. GG Nintendo, even if this is likely fake as fuck.

Both those games can be played with the pro controller

Does the Wii U come with the pro controller? Or do i have to buy it separate? Because if i have to buy it separately, then Nintendo can eat my ass.

Short answer is no. It is included in some bundles and some places give you a deal on bundles (like this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-32GB-Mario-Splatoon-Premium/dp/B017XZ6YOU ). I personally think the regular gamepad is fine, but I can understand why you'd disagree.

OT: I would say this is fake and I hope it's fake. I will be pretty desperate before I buy this and I don't think it would be what makes Nintendo recover from a poor run with the Wii U.

What is this? What am i even looking at? Is it a punk suppository for constipated alien liberals? I don't think we should be groping it, by any means. The visual information provided is quite ambiguous and conflicting.

Oh my god! It is just like smartphone but with this you have to buy a new controller!

Even if it is a fake, there are better ways to create fake controllers. I hope they put some effort in to it.

That's odd. According to every image in the patent application, that thing is supposed to have handholds.

*EDIT*
Yeah, although I have nothing to lose I'm going to go "out on a limb" here and guess that it's a real image. It might just be a prototype, but I think that the controller in the image is real.

My reasoning is that, historically, my reactions to Nintendo hardware concepts were always a mix of confusion and concern, but Nintendo has been beating their own path for a few years now. Granted, nobody seems to want to make games for the Wii U except Nintendo and a few dedicated devs, and the term 'shovelware', originally used to malign early CD-ROM games collections, came out of retirement to describe games made for the Wii.

But that image looks surprisingly plausible. Note the two arrows on the extreme left/right edges. And there's at least two buttons marked 'A' and 'B' near the right haptic knob. I'd be surprised if this image was fake...and I'd be concerned if this image were real. But that's how it goes with me and Nintendo.

Xenoblade is pretty much unplayable without the touch screen anyway
