That looks a) completely fake, and b) too gash darn "innovative" for Nintendo.

It would also be uncomfortable as fuck to hold in your hands, as the elongated oval extremities would hamper your grip. Speaking of grips... There don't even seem to be any.

I know the Wii-U controller isn't optimal, but at least it looks like something you could hold in your hands. Any controller needs to be able to comfortable rest in your hands. Even the Wiimote got that right.

So yeah, fake. And if it isn't... God help us all.
I hate the Wii-U controller. Feels like I'm holding a fucking TV and I hate it. I really wanted to play Bayonetta 2 and Xenoblade X but that control is keeping me far away from that console.
Both those games can be played with the pro controller
Does the Wii U come with the pro controller? Or do i have to buy it separate? Because if i have to buy it separately, then Nintendo can eat my ass.
Xenoblade is pretty much unplayable without the touch screen anyway
That's not true, just use it only for fast travel or for setting up probes and you can do the other 98% of the game with a pro-controller.

Though I don't understand what people have against the main controller. Feels comfortable in my hands, and while it looks bulky its appearance is deceptive in that regard.

Looks fake....they barely changed the wii and WiiU pro controllers, I see the same for the WiiU Pro-C and the NX UltraPro or whatever controller.

If, and that is a big if, that is real then it is probably a proof of concept then the final product.

Going to wait for official confirmation. I just hope Nintendo gets back into direct competition with Sony and MS and stops with the gimmicks. If they mess up with the NX I dont think it will go well for them and I definitely do not want them to leave the home console business.

I just would like to see Nintendo go back to a more traditional controller as the primary input method. Doesn't have to be a Gamecube like controller. Just no Wii remote that really only worked well with a select number of games/genres.

Or the Wii U tablet that has failed to capture audiences and developer interest. Even with the Wii U relatively low and ideal price. With perhaps the best holiday bundles offered by any console manufacturer. I think there was one bundle that came with Mario Kart 8, Super Smash, and something else. And that obviously had little impact on sales despite quality recognizable games included with the purchase.

i have to agree my first impression of the wii u controller was that it looked bulky but after actually trying it it fits quite comfortably in my hands.
as for the picture it's fake. even if nintendo tried to do another controller with a screen it sure as hell wouldn't look like that. it looks more like something apple would design.

This looks like something designed for aesthetic simplicity and purity over actual comfort and usability. I can't imagine the designers of the Gamecube controller approving this. I know Nintendo has a negative reputation for pushing innovation for innovation's sake, but their ideas have always been focused on expanding gameplay possibilities, not just pursuing needlessly unorthodox design.

Looks uncomfortable, but then they did the tablet brick just recently so I'd say a completely plausible Nintendo thing.
I don't see a use for it, but will probably do wonders for hype fishing and with it console sales, the average user will buy it simply because something looks different.

Pretty sure that's confirmed to be fake. Not to mention no D-Pad on a Nintendo controller is unthinkable. Someone did make their own concept on how such a controller could work though. (which funnily enough is almost in the shape of the PS VITA.

Eerie how close it looks like the patent images, if this is real though, then all I have to say is; this is a horrendous controller.

The analog sticks look far from comfortable to use because of their shape, having sticks stick out of the circular base gives more precision, having only a slight elevation on the circular base as shown is well...

Not even going to touch on the lack of physical buttons on the face of the controller, it should be self explanatory as to why that would be a horrendous idea.

And I'm sure that every third party developer out there is just thrilled about the idea of having to redesign their UI for the NX port of their games, because I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but the corners of the screen have been used as a place to put the UI for many a year now, rounding out these corners and blocking them with the user's hands... what the hell was the person thinking who designed this monstrosity.

More pictures have been leaked of the controller.

It appears that the Controller leak is more likely to be real then to be fake. I will be adding these pictures to the main post.

Yeah, okay, like I said earlier, this makes sense if true.

The thing about Nintendo is they make stuff that nobody knows what to do with. They're alien concepts which, even when confirmed, leave people scratching their heads. Like "Okay, now what?" type equipment.

I'm not a Nintendo fan, but the bizarre hardware they make often takes the world by surprise. Mostly for the better, and sometimes you get a Virtual Boy.

This is how it might work for a lot more people if it gets shipped with the unit. It's a "fan made" concept, but it's so good if done properly that maybe this is the secret for success of this controller/device.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CeQDW1ZWQAATf8y.jpg

Edit: I doubt it, though, since this would make all the technology behind this touch and haptic stuff obsolete and a waste of money.

Personally, I'm just very, very worried about the ergonomics. If this device is supposed to be used at home, it is also supposed to be used several hours. This looks so damn unconfortable.

I really don't want Nintendo to flop...

Translation of:

"After we reported on a picture of the supposed NX Controller last week, other pictures surfaced on the internet, which you can find in our gallery. In addition, the person (( who leaked the pictures? )) revealed some information about this:

According to the person, 3,5mm headphone connectors are integrated. It supposedly has haptic feedback, unlike the usual rumble feature. It is more alike to the Taptic Engine by Apple.

Both sticks supposedly work like the Circle Pad of the Nintendo 3DS. There seems to be a kind of "role" at the top of that controller, which shall work like a mouse wheel."

Another picture has leaked! It's a close up of the controller, and it shows a feature we haven't seen before with the controller... It's curved inward in the back.

Ok, new photos making this look a hell of a lot more legit. Still looks like an early prototype at best, I really doubt this is all that close to what we end up with for the real controller.

But it does look stupid still. We'll see if Nintendo can pull this off.

I feel like if I was watching a catastrophe unfold live on TV.

Even though this may make it a bit better. I really wonder what exactly this is, if not a very sophisticated fake by a very rich person.

But if this were the whole NX, which it were according to rumors of the NX being a handheld with a dongle for home TV, I am deeply concerned about either performance or battery life. But maybe Nintendo did some magic or it costs 800$.

Nevertheless, I won't *really* judge it until I'd try it out myself and would advice the same to anyone else. Nintendo isn't a newcomer to the industry.

Well, Nintendo Treehouse employees are retweeting the Neogaf thread which seems to push this towards a fake leak.
