It looks like a GBA Mirco and a PS Vita had a child.

Another picture has leaked! It's a close up of the controller, and it shows a feature we haven't seen before with the controller... It's curved inward in the back.

Judging from that then perhaps the controller clips into a frame or addon of some sort which would have more conventional buttons when it is used in console mode. Assuming this is the actual controller and the NX is a handheld/console hybrid of course. Got to love the new console speculation.

Well, a friend of a friend who works at Nintendo Europe said it was fake.

However, I'm inclined to believe it's fake, or an older concept that's been 'abandoned' already. Either that, or the person taking the photos is an absolute moron and about to be fired. There are way too many details in those pictures.

As much as I think this is a fake, that guy is a horrible source. This is the same guy that said Shovel Knight was in Smash, that Star Fox Zero was going to be delayed hours before we got the last direct (it wasn't delayed), and that Devil's Third wasn't coming to North America. He's kind of completely full of it.

With that said, if you compare the two images...while they do look similar, there's actually a lot of differences. For instance, one device has a microphone on the bottom while the other doesn't. The two controllers also have different cameras near the bottom. This, in my opinion, puts these more towards at least one, if not both, of them being fake.

I really hope for nintendo it's fake. It just make no sense, it double down on the wii u controller/screen things, which is clearly a failure, and it seems to channel the spirit of the now dead vita, another failure. It's closest competitor would be smartphone, which everyone has one already and I doubt people will want to carry a more limited smartphones around. It would need to be significantly more powerful than most phone today.

So yeah, who would this be fore except hardcore nintendo fan (who would buy anything anyway)?

That looks a) completely fake, and b) too gash darn "innovative" for Nintendo.

It would also be uncomfortable as fuck to hold in your hands, as the elongated oval extremities would hamper your grip. Speaking of grips... There don't even seem to be any.

I know the Wii-U controller isn't optimal, but at least it looks like something you could hold in your hands. Any controller needs to be able to comfortable rest in your hands. Even the Wiimote got that right.

So yeah, fake. And if it isn't... God help us all.
I hate the Wii-U controller. Feels like I'm holding a fucking TV and I hate it. I really wanted to play Bayonetta 2 and Xenoblade X but that control is keeping me far away from that console.
You can use the pro controller Fox Xenoblade and Bayonetta but Xenoblade is like the only game where the Tablet Controller helps game play. You feel like its a necessity and not a hindrance. I would advise you to use if you play that game.

Looks awful.
The reason why smartphone gaming hasn't "taken over" the handheld market and why I still much prefer my 3ds over my android for gaming is because simulated touchscreen buttons are terrible and make traditional genres a chore to play.
I hope they don't make that a feature of whatever NX is.
Unless we have some crazy new haptic feedback technology that will revolutionize touchscreens, people just prefer to feel buttons.

Needs side grips so its more comfortable to hold. Maybe move the sticks or W/E to there instead, so they're once again closer to your hands. Physical buttons are also nice, though I'm assuming they're on the sides of the controller.

Otherwise looks alright. Nothing wrong with touchscreen controllers or controllers with non-touch screens in them either. I can kind of see no physical buttons on the upside of the controller as Nintendo's response to the WiiU controller 'being too big', but otherwise, meh, doesn't look horrible if you give it some grips. It just needs to actually be holdable, rather than something that is going to dig into my hands all day while playing.

I feel it should be noted that, even if this isn't a fake, that controllers can vary wildly between concept and eventual reality.

Anybody else remember the boomerang that was Sony's concept PS3 six axis controller?

This is probably a discarded prototype that was deemed to be insufficiently insane for a Nintendo product. They've since game back to the drawing board to come up with something kookier.
