PC if you can run it well. The mod community is huge, so anything you don't like about the game can be changed.

Mods

What mods are good?
Ill give them a shot later maybe
Off the top of my head?

Definitely the balancing mods. FranOOOMMM (the combination of Franchesca's Leveling Mod, Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul and Martin's Monster Manipulator) takes the "leveled" aspect out, so enemies in certain areas are always a certain strength, and if a low level character manages to beat a high level dungeon, they get high level loot.

For thieves (my personal style of play), pick yourself up Vaults of Cyrodiil. It adds vaults to the castles, complete with unique loot. It goes especially well with Scruggsywuggsytheferret (Known as Scruggs in the Bethsoft community)'s Thieves Arsenal, which adds oil arrows, flare arrows, water arrows and vines for the assassin/thief character.

Also, there's a mod called Deadly Reflex in it's various incarnations. Basically it adds limb rips, decapitations, horse combat and a couple of other bits, vastly improving combat (and includes a brilliant little trick called Shield Rush, which means you can counter a swordsman who is not allowing you a break to attack, as you basically punch them in the face with your shield).

PC version!

Graphically superior, incredible mods, (including a mod that increases the textures to super high resolutions, making it even more graphically superior), bug free (again, thanks to mods) and of course better controls.

I mess around on the 360 version my brother has sometimes because I don't have a gaming PC currently. I find that the draw distance is a bit crappy and just generally looks lower quality than the PC version. You can get rid of that terribly overdone bloom effect on the PC but not on the 360. I haven't encountered any bugs yet, but I think its basically a fact that there are tonnes of bugs, much like the unpatched PC version.

Yeah, I used to have a Khajiit Thief who excelled in getaways :p My crowning achievement is finishing 5 Oblivion Gates back to back (level 17) without taking a single point of damage, simply by running through the whole gate. Kiting is fun :D

I would say PC. Some of the mods that you can get for oblivion on the pc are way better than any expansions that you can get on a consoll.

PC has mods and cheats, 360 has better controls and PS3 has a hefty price tag.
Yeah I'd choose PC, controls are easier on 360 but the mods enhance the experience. I wouldn't even bother with PS3 for one reason: the control scheme uses the triggers so imagine taking say archery and having to hold one of those triggers for a couple minutes...
long story short PS3 is shitty and will absoloutely ruin Oblivion, a great game with it's horrible control scheme

If your PC can run it, get it on that. I got the 360 version and it still makes me a little jealous when I see all the mods the PC users have.

my favorite mod simply puts your weight limit to like 10 times more. So simple, but so handy... especially for my damn archer.

Dont have the game, but I guess PC since it has mods. Well, I would have gone for the PC if I had the sufficient hardware anyway, Id rather get the 360 atm...

Used to play PC version, but it runs worse than Crysis.(Fallout 3 has the same problem)
I'd say the console version is superior. Mods can't help a game when you can barely play it.

The game is designed to be played with a controller. Mouse + Keyboard is horrible with the default menus.
first off, i agree for the most part. oblivion runs like shit. i upgraded from a 7800gt and 3ghz p4 to a core 2 duo overclocked to 3.6ghz and an 8800gt and saw NO improvement in framerates from the same settings. really horrible job porting it.

but fallout 3 runs much better for me than does oblivion. wereas oblivion runs at around 30-40 fps on my pc fallout 3 runs maxed out at 60 fps (vsync on) all the time.

and the ui for the pc version isnt THAT bad. not as kb&m friendly as it is with mods, but its still workable. and using the number keys for items and spells makes it easier to switch between them as well, something the console versions DONT support.

PC. cause im an idiot. I thought it would be cheaper to buy the Oblivion GotY edition but ended up having to buy a new graphics card, 2 GB system RAM, 128MB video card and a bunch of other stuff that I have no idea what they do
Graphics cards and video cards are the same thing. You didn't buy two of them, did you?
Like I said ' a bunch of stuff that i have no idea what they do'
