I've seen a little bit, but it doesn't bother me. And honestly, I expect to see commercials for Force Awakens while I'm watching an episode of Star Wars: Rebels xD

I remember there being this one...Wal-Mart ad I think it was? A few months ago online. Every web video I was watching seemed to be running it. It was the one that had all the parents who were Star Wars fans as kids, passing on the passion to their own kids now that Awakens is coming out. It was cute, but got a little annoying after the 300th time I'd seen it. Though I still always found the bit with the mother and her daughter, talking about Leia incredibly funny.

It's the bit about "Why doesn't the princess just wait for the boys to save her". Cracks me up everytime, the mom's face is priceless. xD

It's certainly not Frozen or Minions ubiquity, but it's hard to avoid if I want to stay on my usual sites and social media. It still bothers me though, given that I think it looks thoroughly mediocre and everyone seems to be excited over... hmm. I just don't get the appeal beyond it's trying to look like the original trilogy.

It's amazing to me how people can be so influenced by things that have no impact on their life. It's just a movie. If you want to see the movie you go see the movie. End of story. You don't have to buy any merchandise and you don't have to watch any trailers or commercials. Think of all that stuff as just things that are always there. Because in reality marketing and merchandise is always there. What difference does it make if it's Star Wars stuff that's related to the new Star Wars movie? It's still irrelevant to you if you don't want it. If you have no interest in anything other than the movie then you should simply ignore it just like you ignore all the other things that you have no interest in. It's the easiest thing in the world. There are genuinely complicated things in life. This ain't one of them.

Considering I work in retail, it is very hard to avoid. I have to walk past some sort of Star Wars display multiple times a night.

I'm kind of annoyed at all the "no spoilers!" memes. Clearly "mystery box" Abrams wants to keep a wrap on things so tight that they're not even screening it for critics - usually the mark of a terrible movie. And to what point? It appears most of the plot was leaked, after all, and it's very consistent with the trailers. And there's not even some big twist or anything like that, really:

Okay, so it was a long way to go for a stupid pun, but it was worth it. =D

That's actually very funny.

OT: I actually haven't seen that much advertizing, so...blah.

I've seen some Star Wars ads and marketing, but it's not really over the top obnoxious. With the movie hitting theaters at the end of the week I'm actually surprised I'm not seeing that many trailers and ads overall, and most people aren't breathless about taking about it. Really the Prequels were much heavier on the marketing, I think that's part of it, the prequels were everywhere and most of the fan base was burned, so there's less hype this time around. Honestly if consider that it's Disney, not is the marketing tame, it's also pretty tastefully done and subtle. Which is par for the course with a Disney product that isn't aimed at preteens exclusively, if it were in that category it'd be plastered all over everything everywhere.

I've barely noticed it, probably because I hardly know anyone who is stoked about it, and most of my co-workers are too old to have any interest in it. I don't watch any TV either. Is that where all these annoying ads are?

Okay, I have to add to my earlier chagrin with the Star Wars mania. XD

As I was driving to work today, one of the department of transport signs that randomly generate advice and road conditions for drivers read: "I find your lack of seatbelt disturbing"

... Even my state government is joining in now!

Not really, although I was a little annoyed the news was basically advertising the fucking thing.

Minions on the other hand....

You know what? I have decided that this enormous marketing and merchandising campaign is... Kind of wonderful. It's really nice. It's the first break from non-stop Christmas we've had since Halloween. I hope it becomes an annual event. Each fall will go Halloween - Thanksgiving - Star Wars - Christmas. Thanksgiving just wasn't cutting it; I mean, even Black Friday gets more attention than Thanksgiving, and that's literally a Christmas pre-event.
