My Xbox currently has one section of red on the ring(Bottom right corner) I was wondering has anyone had this problem and can you help me?

By the way the error code is E74
and turning it of and on does not work. It also started with a weird black little dots all over the screen.

EDIT: Oh kayz, I'm probably gunna send it in for repairs. or buy an arcade unit. Now the new problem is, my friends told me Arcade units have a very short lived and bad success rate, is this true? THIS IS THE NEW QUESTION :D Thank you to all the extremely helpful people!

P.S I'm getting a high end MESH gaming computer at Christmas, so i'm still gunna be gaming!

No redness yet (thank goodness), but it doesn't always like to read discs, even if said discs are in literally perfect condition.

gotta check the error code it gives you when you turn it on.

xbox's have a 54% failure rate, and it sounds like yours did exactly that.

I know when my 2nd 360 bit the dust I got a PS3 (now that they're 300). It was funny the Gamestop employee asked if I wanted the warranty the store offers, I said no. The employee chuckled and said that PS3's don't need them, but he would have really tried to get me to buy one if I was getting a 360.

Sometimes it can't read the disc once i've started the game but after that it's fine for the rest of the day.

I am the only person that I know who is still on his origional 360. My DVD drive did stop reading the disks after about 2 years, but I just replaced the drive myself, and its working perfectly again :)
It's my old faithful, but it's true they don't make tech like they used to.

I need to clarify this:

It isn't a damn ring if it isn't 4 lights! A complete circle is a ring!

OT: Just send it in for repairs.

Yeah, because quoting a SURVEY of magazine subscribers who didn't even have to OWN a 360 in order to participate is highly accurate and reputable source of information. It's pure flame bait used by PS3 fanboys who don't even bother to check their 'facts'.

No not really. People who make stupid statements just to piss people off and annoy them are trolls. He was just talking about a real life experience.

1 or 2 Red Rings...hardware issue which can easily be fixed.

3 RIngs... your 360 is DEAD in which case you should send it in to be repaired but dont leave a disc in there or Mircrosoft will take it.

4 Rings ..the plugs are being janky

most of the problems can be solved quickly by turning it off and then back on after a few seconds except for the 3 rings of course.

Hey, that's fine if he had 2 360's bite it on him and they made fun of 360 at his local game store. I've had 2 fail on me as well. The Troll part comes from him quoting that stupid Game Informer survey as though it were a fact, which falls well in line with your "people who make stupid statements just to piss people off" rules.

first obvious troll is obvious. second those statics are wildly off mark and often stated as likly inaccurate. the more moderate 23.7% mark is often cited as being more accurate
