My Xbox currently has one section of red on the ring(Bottom right corner) I was wondering has anyone had this problem and can you help me?

By the way the error code is E74
and turning it of and on does not work. It also started with a weird black little dots all over the screen.

I had that error, exactly the same. There are some fixes on the internet but I wouldn't trust them, how long ago did you buy it and where from?

I've had RROD and then I got some motherboard failure that stopped it from launching games.

3 red lights. Got it sent off and it came back repaired for free with a months gold subscription the next week.
Other than that its fine.

Hey, that's fine if he had 2 360's bite it on him and they made fun of 360 at his local game store. I've had 2 fail on me as well. I have had the RROD a few times, been banned for a day which fucked up and update for me and now one of my consoles has a perma ban as it is modded. except that though no problems at all

E74 is red ring of death, if your error code is that, send it in for repairs, or you know, buy a curgen one that has the problems fixed.

..or you know, take 20 minutes and fix it yourself.

Very easy, and I've done it many times.

I've actually had the RRoD around 3 times, the discs not reading once, but that was just an early symptom of the RRoD. I'm not a die hard Xbox 360 Fan, I just thought they handle it all the times it happened reasonably well repairing my machine. Actually all 3 times it happened they repaired the machine and then it'd break down again till finally they just sent me a new console. Has worked fine ever since.
Best thing was they didn't charge me a cent, though it was kind of annoying that it'd die and I'd have to send my console out for weeks at a time. Then again I'm not always playing my 360, I play my PS2 and PC more so it didn't bother me all that much.

I have had 2 previous 360's that have forgotten that they are 360's because when I put a game in them it would say "Please insert this disk into an Xbox 360 in order to play it."

Identity crisis 360 = shitty times.

It actually had nothing to do with pissing a person off. I was just sharing my experience with 360's, their red rings, and what finally got me to buy a PS3.

I certainly wasn't trying to turn the OPs thread into a flame war, but if something as innocent as my original post was enough to get you upset as a 360 owner you might want to take a deep breath.

gotta check the error code it gives you when you turn it on.

xbox's have a 54% failure rate, and it sounds like yours did exactly that.

I know when my 2nd 360 bit the dust I got a PS3 (now that they're 300). It was funny the Gamestop employee asked if I wanted the warranty the store offers, I said no. The employee chuckled and said that PS3's don't need them, but he would have really tried to get me to buy one if I was getting a 360.

Don't troll, gamestation prefer it if people buy Xbox's, larger attach rate with game sales.

Buy an Xbox and buy loads of games!, more money for them, hooray!

Not upset, but would prefer if you would speak to personal experience, opinion or facts next time you talk about any console, not just 360. I respect the people on this board as well as PS3 owners enough that I won't blatantly flame their console of choice.

My Xbox lasted 4 years and when it FINALLY contracted RROD I almost cried and then cause warranty was gone Microsoft wouldn't give me a free repair.... Made me sad....

However for about a year before it got RROD it had a habit of making a massive Gurning noise when it turned on (which lasted about 4 minutes usually) and failed at reading disks all the time, but i loved it so...

Dude, the 3 red sections ARE the ring of death (yes, ring is a little misleading, but it really is just three sections)

4 red sections just mean that you havn't hooked your xbox up to your TV (at all, or improperly), people have sent their xbox's to microsoft thinking they got the ring when they just put the AV cables in wrong, lol

I might be missing something, but isn't that exactly what I did? That is speak from a personal experience.
